Mama + Mini Monday: Thanksgiving Style

Happy Thanksgiving week ya’ll! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love getting together with family and friends and eat, eat, eat! 😉 Although, this week has been tough. It took me two days to get these photos and they are certainly not our best. Ada was not in the mood for pictures. But here they are in their full glory! 😉 #thisisreallife

This cape has to be one of my favorite things in my closet. Orange and blue just go so well together, in both fashion and home decor. I usually steer clear from orange, because it usually washes me out and poor Ada, has her mother’s complexion as well. 🙁 But having just a little bit of orange works just fine. The cape is another ModCloth purchase and has to be one of the nicest quality jackets I own. It is so soft, warm, and the colors are even better in person. “Don’t think about it, buy it!” (Can anyone name that movie?) 😉 And the best thing about wearing this cape during all these holiday dinners, is that it covers a multitude of sins.

My shoes are from, you guessed it, ModCloth. They do not offer the exact same ones I have, but these are very similar. Plus, they are super cute! I think I like them even better than the ones I have.

Ada’s shirt is from a consignment shop but here is a similar one. Her sweet orange bow is from SmallPeanutsShop. Her velvet Christmas bows are to die for! I am not sure which colors I want for Ada – probably all of them. 😉

Yesterday, we had our good friends over for a Friendsgiving dinner. We had a blast; laughing together and eating the most delicious food. Not to mention enjoying this new drink, Cranberry Mule.

Well, I hope you are enjoying this Thanksgiving week with family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll!

Fashion for Families

I am excited to share a new company who I just love – Kin & Kith. They are “a lifestyle brand focused on bringing family style to the forefront of the clothing industry.” They make coordinating/matching outfits for the whole family. How perfect is that for me? 😉 I just received our dresses and I love them! They are made from high quality fabric and they offer great versatile styles and colors.

For my dress, I picked the grey and white pinstripe. There are so many ways to wear this dress, which I hope to share with you all later. But I thought the red went so well with the gray and it is a perfect outfit for all the upcoming holiday festivities. My red cardigan is from TJMaxx, similar here and here. My red shoes are from ModCloth and they are of course, Seychelles brand (similar). I bought my necklace from BenevolentJewels.com years ago, but they don’t seem to be in business anymore. There are so many options out there and one of my favorite places to get statement pieces is from BaubleBar.com.

Ada’s coordinating dress is black with pinstripe pockets. This dress is so cute on her! I love the style and the tiny pockets are so adorable. And do you know how hard it is to find simple black clothes for little girls? I love all the pinks and purples for little girls, but come on. Every girl needs a little black dress in her closet! Her gray tights and red glitter shoes are both from Gap.com. Her metallic gray bow is from SmallPeanutsShop.

And my favorite picture from the shoot. Look at how well she is standing up now! I am so proud! It is a big accomplishment for her. Hopefully this means she will be walking soon, but I think it is going to be little while longer still.

These coordinating dresses will be available for purchase on November 25th. And not only do they offer dresses for mama and minis but they also offer dress shirts for dads and little boys. The dress shirts for the little boys are the cutest ever! And I am really excited about the new color they will be offering on the 25th, cobalt blue! Isn’t it gorgeous?! The gray pinstripe and black will be available as well.

For all my readers out there, use code, “MAPLETREE,” to get 10% off your purchase! I would act quickly because they sell out of select colors and sizes fast. I’m betting that beautiful cobalt will be the first to sell out. You bet I’ll be first in line to get that one!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend filled with family, friends, and holiday fun!

Mama + Mini Monday: Buffalo Check

It has been a bit crazy here at the Maples’ house. The terrible forest fire near Lake Lure is only about 6 miles from our house. We have been covered in smoke and the fire is too close for comfort, for me. I hope and pray that we get some rain soon and that those who are closer to the fire are safe.

On a brighter note, we took some mama + mini photos wearing some holiday-ish colors. I really like red buffalo check for Christmas time. It can be worn both casually and formally. Not to mention the adorable Christmas decor in buffalo check. 🙂

I had a hard time getting Ada to take some photos with me today. She just wanted to wiggle, squirm, and scoot around. Exhibit A…

But Randy was able to capture a few sweet moments. Thank goodness for a fast shutter speed. 😉

I have been looking for a red buffalo check shirt for some time now. I finally found mine at TJMaxx and it is Lucky Brand (similar here). I like the loose fit and love the detail in the back. Ada’s sweater dress is from Target and is super soft. And I love the gold button details. This sweater will be perfect for all the holiday festivities for the next couple of months. 🙂

My hat is from REI from a few years ago – the brand being Pistil. I love this style so much that I have them in several different colors. Ada’s red buffalo check bow is from The Small Peanuts Shop.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far and that everyone remains safe from all these forest fires. Happy Monday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Chambray & Leggings

It is hard to believe that Halloween has come and gone. But now that it is November, the holiday season has officially begun! Bring on the decorations, the festive music, and yummy food!  The days here have been absolutely gorgeous! Perfect blue skies, warm days with a cool wind, and falling leaves. We have been outside as much as we can and Ada has been loving it!

We finally got around to gathering up the leaves in our front yard this week and we took full advantage of it and played. Ada was a little unsure about it at first, but I think she enjoyed herself at the end. She loves tearing up the dry leaves.

This is her growl face, that Randy taught her. She holds up her little hands and says, “RAWR!” She mastered it, just in time for Halloween!

Then I joined her in the leaf pile. I can’t resist a good leaf pile!

It was all fun and games until I saw a spider. I jumped out of there so fast I scared Ada. But I don’t do spiders…. I just don’t! *shivers*

I found Ada’s chambray shirt at a consignment shop (surprise, surprise) and couldn’t wait to match her to me. Ada’s shirt is Carter’s brand and her black leggings are my favorite for her. They are from Gap and they have adorable lace trim. Her mustard bow is from Ellia May Designs. My mustard scarf is from Modcloth and my leggings are simply amazing. They are from Nordstrom, Zella brand. I cannot brag enough about these leggings. They are so comfortable and they compress a little, which helps hold everything in. 😉

She is not standing on her own yet, but she has really improved in the last week or so. She can now hold her self up using a table or a couch; which is a big deal! I guess it won’t be long now!

I hope you are having a wonderful week enjoying this beautiful fall weather!

Welcome to Oz: Our Halloween

I have been patiently impatiently waiting to do family costumes for Halloween for a long time now, and this year my dream came true! We had a blast dressing up together and I hope to continue to do so for years to come!

This year we were : Glinda the Good Witch, little Dorothy Gale, and the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz!

For mine and Randy’s costumes we were inspired by the movie, “The Great and Powerful Oz.” Plus, it was easy to replicate their versions of the characters. I don’t exactly have a big, pink ball gown laying around, like what Billie Burke wore on, “The Wizard of Oz.” 😉 But I do have a dress similar to what Michelle Williams wore. All I had to add was a crown and ta da! Glinda the Good Witch.

Randy just wore one of his suits and I found a bow tie and top hat for him to wear from Amazon. Ada’s dress came from a consignment shop and I have been holding on to it for about 6 months now. Luckily, it fit her beautifully! Her shoes came from Gap and her red glitter bows came from BeckandBelle. I did get some thick, white tights for Ada to wear because it is always freezing cold on Halloween. But this year, was the first year that I can remember that it was in the high 70s for Halloween. Say what? But I was grateful for the beautiful day, because we were able to enjoy outside and take cute pictures of Ada.

Those pigtails just kill me!

We celebrated Halloween by taking Ada to a local petting zoo that was having a Halloween party. She had a blast! She loves farm animals right now. She “moo-ed” and “baa-ed” all through the zoo. It was the cutest ever! Our dear friend came along, too, with her adorable son.

I think Ada’s favorite animal was the bunny. Her lovie that she sleeps with every night is a bunny, so she just loved seeing and petting a real one.

Halloween 2016

They had music playing and a dance party as well. They played Ada’s favorite song, “Old MacDonald”; which she tries so hard to sing, “E-I-E-I-O”. Makes my heart melt every time!

Halloween 2016

After the petting zoo, we all came back to our house to have a simple Halloween party. Our babies were about to lose it about this time, so Ada did not stay up long after getting put into her costume. But we still had fun together taking photos of everyone! I made this photo backdrop to use for our pictures. The kids thought it was awesome and tore up all the yellow brick road bricks and hid behind the rainbow.

Isn’t Aldrick the cutest scarecrow? It was even better when he was walking around and his little scarecrow feet were flopping around.

And here we have the scarecrow and the cowardly lion. They are so cute!

Overall, we had a wonderful time and look forward to doing it again next year!

Mama + Mini Monday: Plaid

This post is a bit late, but it is still Monday, right? These past few days have been a little difficult, Ada has started temper tantrums. I know it is a normal thing, but I didn’t expect them so soon. So our days have been long and I am exhausted at the end of the day. Does this phase end soon or is this something that is here to stay? Regardless, we still have good times. It is a good thing that these tantrums have started during the fall, because the weather has been great and nothing makes Ada happier than being outside.

Today, we are matching in our red and navy plaid shirts. I found both of our shirts at Old Navy. Ada’s outfit came as a set – shirt and jeggings. The jeggings are my favorite “jeans” for Ada. Actual jeans do not seem comfortable for her. I think they will be better when she is standing and walking around. Right now, they seem too tight for her chubby little thighs. 😉

My navy utility vest is from TJMaxx last year (similar). It is actually a little difficult to find a utility vest in a different color than olive. Unfortunately, I cannot wear olive; so I was excited to find it in navy. My booties (similar) are from TJMaxx as well, they are Dolce Vita brand. I love these booties! I have been searching for the perfect booties for two years now and I am so happy that I came across these. Not only are they cute and the color I wanted, they are very comfortable.

And my favorite photos from the day. The golden hour is so lovely in the fall.

Now it is crunch time for Halloween – just one week away! I am so excited to dress up Ada this year. It should be so fun, not to mention, absolutely adorable! What are your plans for Halloween?

Ada’s First Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, we enjoyed perfect fall weather, in Boone, while visiting family. So we took the opportunity to take Ada to her first pumpkin patch. I am so happy that my family got to be there with us.

There are not that many pumpkin patches in Boone, but I picked the New River Corn Maze because it had a beautiful fall setting. A corn field, a pumpkin patch, and a big red barn; all nestled in a valley surrounded by Christmas trees and fall foliage. I mean, it can’t get any better than that, am I right? 😉

It was also great to have my family there to help take pictures. They would dance around and act silly to get Ada to smile. It was so sweet! Not only did it make Ada smile, but it made her dance, too!

She was really getting into those dance moves!

They, of course, offered pumpkins in every shape, color, and size. It was a lot of fun walking around the patch and looking at all the different pumpkins.

But I believe Ada was the cutest little pumpkin in the entire pumpkin patch. I love her sweet little smile!

When we finished walking through the pumpkin patch, we relaxed by the river. The perfect end, to a perfect day!

I hope you are out enjoying fall this weekend! Happy Saturday ya’ll!

Our Anniversary Weekend

This past weekend, Randy and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. We made it to the “seven year itch” – as some people call it. But the number 7 is my lucky number, so I see it more as the “the lucky seven.” 😉

We celebrated with my brother and sister-in-law, who celebrate their wedding anniversary a couple of days after us. We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather by going to local breweries, shopping downtown Boone, and eating pumpkin ice cream.

We stopped by ASU to visit the spot where Randy proposed. On campus, there some structures that are laid out in the configuration of the constellation Orion; this is where Randy proposed. So when people ask me where Randy proposed, I say Orion’s belt. Very romantic for us physicists. 😉

And we stopped by the tunnels, where Randy and I had our first kiss while listening to the acappella group sing.

Jonathan and Katherine joined in on the fun, too!

My two favorite things all in one place – craft beer and a food truck!

img_8565

We had a wonderful anniversary and we always have fun with my brother and sister-in-law.

Happy 7th Anniversary, my darling! I love the life we have made together and I couldn’t imagine spending this adventure with anyone else! I love you, always forever!

Mama & Mini Monday: Navy Dresses

The weather, here in the mountains, has been beautiful this past week! It has cooled down a lot but it is still warm enough to enjoy being outside; which we have done as often as we can. Ada loves sitting on our front lawn and looking around. She looks at all the trees and plays with all the fallen leaves. It has been so perfect! I never want this time to end! And the best part about this cooler weather, is now I can put Ada in all these cozy leggings and sweater dresses! 😉

Today, Ada and I are matching in our navy dresses!

navy-gray-3

Ada’s navy dress actually inspired me to get mine. I have been looking for the perfect navy dress for some time, and I found it on ModCloth.com ( of course!). 😉 I really love everything about it – the style, the midi length, and the crochet details.

navy-gray-1

My gray cardigan is from Target –  very soft and reasonably priced. My gray tights and red necklace (similar) are from ModCloth. (I am just a walking advertisement for ModCloth today!) And my beautiful gray shoes are from a small shoe shop in Venice, Italy. But there are tons of similar styles for fall.

Ada’s navy dress and gray cardigan came as a set from a consignment shop, but the brand is Carter’s (similar). Her navy polka dot hair bow is from ZozuBaby. And her gray tights and red shoes are from Gap. I love that her dress has crochet details at the top, similar to my dress.

navy-gray-6

I tried so hard to get her to stand on her own, but she wouldn’t have it. Silly girl. I guess she will get there eventually…

Reaching for her dada – she is a daddy’s girl for sure!

I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather with your families! And to those who are affected by the hurricane, I pray that you and your families are safe. Happy Monday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Chambray & Mustard

Now that it is officially fall, it is ok for me to wear my favorite color every day, right?! It is? Ok, good! Because I sure do love it! So naturally, when I find mustard in Ada’s size I grab it! It is still a little warm here, but when the wind blows, you can feel a little chill. Cooler weather is on it’s way! But until then, we will rock our summer dresses with cardigans and booties. 😉

My dress is from J.Crew Factory (similar) and is a great transition piece. My cardigan is from Modcloth and they come in multiple colors. I have had mine for years and it still looks great. And of course, my mustard heels are from Seychelles.

And look! Ada is standing! Not completely on her own, but she can support her own weight and can balance pretty well. Hopefully, it won’t be long until she is running around! But would you look at those thighs?! Baby rolls are seriously the sweetest!

Ada’s chambray romper is from baby Gap, but I bought it at a consignment shop. Her mustard cardigan is from OldNavy. I am sure that she will be wearing this cardigan a lot this fall! Plus, the other colors are beautiful! Especially, the red and navy. Her gold moccasins are from a consignment shop as well, I do not know what brand they are. Her beautiful floral bow is from Ellia May Designs. She has been wearing this bow on repeat for days now! 🙂

These two little teeth are so cute! 🙂

I just love those baby blues…. they certainly get Randy and I in trouble already!

Happy Monday ya’ll!
