Silobration 2017

Move over Disney World, Magnolia Market at the Silos is the new happiest place on earth! I can’t believe that I was lucky enough to visit the Silos during the biggest party of the year – Silobration. It was a crazy, fantastic, whirlwind of fun and it was over in a blink of an eye. I can not wait to go back and experience it all over again!

I went with my mother-in-law for a girls’ weekend and we had the greatest time. In fact, we were so excited to be there that we arrived at the Silos before the sun every, single morning. It was the best time to go because not many people were there and we got to see the Silos all lit up plus a beautiful Texan sunrise. Not a bad way to start the day, if you ask me.

To add to the all ready glorious mornings, we enjoyed sweet cuppin’ cakes (100 points to anyone who can guess this quote) from the bakery and the best cup of joe I have ever had in my life (at the coffee truck, Common Grounds)! The seasonal cupcakes were campfire and pumpkin spice, so I was in heaven! Surprisingly, my favorite was the nutty cinnamon roll…oh my goodness, I still dream about that roll.

I am really glad we decided to visit during the Silobration because there was tons of shopping to do at the street vendors. Without the vendors, there would not have been a whole lot to do. Some of my favorite shops were at the Silos – The Jones Market, Little Unicorn, and Gigi Pip. I was so ecstatic to meet the girls behind Gigi Pip! They make my all time favorite hats and they were the sweetest girls ever!

And let’s not forget the food trucks! I mean, could there have been a better place for me to go? Everything I ate was amazing, especially the gourmet grilled cheese sandwich (sourdough bread, bacon, basil, cheese, and avocado)!

The market itself was spectacular! Every nook and cranny was so inspiring and beautiful. You could tell that Joanna had a hand in everything in this store. I wanted it all in my house! Luckily, most of the things in her store are also available online. But seeing her products on display and seeing how she decorated was so much better than shopping online. I can’t wait to get home and order some things for my house!

With it being Silobration, the store was crazy full. It was incredibly hard to move around but the staff are so very helpful and friendly. Even though they checked people out quickly and efficiently, I never once felt rushed or not their number one priority. Their customer service was on point!

The attention to detail at the Silos was astonishing. Brick pavers, hand letter signs, subway title, gorgeous light fixtures, cedar window boxes filled to the brim with cabbage & pumpkins, porch swings, ample seating, photo booths with staff there to take your picture for you, and pumpkins every where you turned. I mean, just wow! They have seriously thought of everything.

We also got to enjoy the concert and saw Chip & Joanna in person! They are honest to goodness, good people. All weekend long, I heard people telling me how the Gaines paid for their trip to the Silos or how they paid for their purchases in the store. And all the finalists in the Chip Starter Campaign got the money they needed to fulfill their dreams. All six finalists! Not only are they generous, they also are unwavering in their faith; which is something that I greatly admire. No amount of money or fame have swayed their hearts on what truly matters. We could definitely use more people like Chip & Joanna Gaines in this world.

We had the most fun at the Silos and it truly is a magical place. If you ever need an idea for a girls’ weekend, Magnolia Market is the place to go! Thank you Chip & Joanna Gaines for creating such a wonderful, beautiful place for all to enjoy!

Ada’s First Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day this year was simple and easy going – like most of our holidays around here anymore! We did enjoy some Valentine’s Day festiveness at home – brownies, flowers, and a romantic dinner for just the two of us!

A few days ago, I had a few of my girlfriend’s, and their babies, over for a simple Galentine’s Day breakfast. We try to meet at least once a week to talk about motherhood, marriage and life. We are reading a book together called, “Hoodwinked: Ten Myths That Moms Believe and Why We All Need to Knock It Off”. It has been such a great book for all of us moms to read together. These ladies have been a wonderful blessing to me and they have become my dearest friends. I am grateful that I have them in life, especially during this time, because let’s face it; being a mom is hard… wonderful, but hard! 😉

We enjoyed a simple breakfast of waffles, bacon, cupcakes and of course; mimosas!

Ada enjoyed watching all the other babies play. Hopefully watching them move around will inspire her to try to move around too! This kid has no interest in moving or sitting up by her self yet! I guess she will try it when she is good and ready!

I hope your Valentine’s Day was filled with love! Happy Monday ya’ll!

Life Lately

I feel like life is moving in fast forward ever since Ada was born. One moment I am bringing home a tiny newborn and the next my little one is interacting with me. She talks and smiles all the day long! I’m the luckiest mama ever. Ada is usually pretty happy, unless she is hungry, then she can go from very happy to Jack Jack (from the movie, The Incredibles) scary in a matter of seconds. But I just love this new life as a mom!

I just love these two! Isn’t her smile the sweetest?!

This past weekend was the first time I left Ada for a few hours. It was hard at first, but it was lovely to get a little break from being a mom. I went out with my mom and sister in law and had a wonderful night on the town!

We enjoyed a nice Thai dinner (which Randy hates) and we finished the night with the best hot chocolate in town. It was a nice break from staying home all the time. It was wonderful to wear normal clothes and put makeup on for once! 😉

Even though it was great getting out of the house, the best part of my night was coming home to snuggle with this little girl.

Girl’s Weekend

This past weekend I went to the beautiful Charleston, SC for a bachelorette party. We stayed at the Wild Dunes Resort… great vacation spot! I hope to go again with Randy some day. We stayed in a condo that was right on the beach. It was the first time (for me) staying in a place with the beach so close and it was awesome!

We had a great time enjoying the beach and pools, even though it was a little chilly. The beach here reminded me of the movie, The Notebook. It was very beautiful.

The beautiful bride-to-be!

We spent most of the weekend at the resort, but we spent some time Charleston.

We ate dinner at Slightly North of Broad aka SNOB. It was very good (as is everything in Charleston) and had quail for the first time. And they had a super Tuscan wine, so I was one happy camper!

So happy for Macie and I had a great time celebrating her!

The next day we had brunch at a restaurant called, Husk. It was in a beautiful house, the kind that you can only find in Charleston. It was elegant, rustic and southern. A very unique combo. 🙂

We spent a little time walking around, admiring the beauty of Charleston. Love the trees!

I love Charleston… I love the architecture, the food, the culture. It is such a beautiful city. I hope the next time I visit I can spend more time exploring the city! 🙂 And I had a great time with the girls! It was a much needed break from all the boys (I’m the only girl on my team at work)! I look forward to the next trip together!

I wish you the best Macie! I know that you will live happily ever after with your prince! 😉

Life Lately

This summer has been hectic for us. Great, but busy. My class for work ended a few weeks ago (yay!) but I am taking another one that starts next week (boo!). So I have been squeezing in fun activities before I get sucked into school work again.

I had a girl’s night out a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun! We went to Wine and Design. You bring your own wine and they provide everything else; canvas, paint, brushes and an instructor. You sip wine and laugh with your girlfriends while you attempt to paint the assigned painting of the night. It is a lot of fun! The night we went was an abstract painting night, which is good because I am sure it is a lot more forgiving! 😉

My husband, Randy, is the sweetest guy I know. When I came home, he bragged about how awesome my painting was and how we needed to hang it up. God bless him! 😉 Note: I will not be hanging this painting up in my home! It is a little too Dr. Seuss for me! 😉  It was just a fun girl’s night out! I would love to do it again sometime.

Last weekend was filled with volunteer work. We helped with the United Way Golf Tournament all day on Saturday. On Sunday, we went to a volunteer appreciation dinner for Blue Ridge Humane Society (for those of you who don’t know, I am a board member for this group). It was held at a historic building in Hendersonville called, The Cedars. It was a beautiful house! But I adore everything vintage. The trees around the house are huge and beautiful. And inside it is filled with antique furniture and decor. I wore my vintage inspired dress and shoes from modcloth.com. I love this outfit!

Also last weekend, Randy and I had a much needed date night. We aim to have a date night out, at least, once a month. But it had been probably 2 months since the last date night out! It was so nice to go out for a romantic meal with my husband. It was lovely!
