Mama + Mini Monday: Autumn Florals

Happy Thanksgiving week! It has been a mad house here trying to get everything ready for the big Turkey Day. I have felt like I have been working my booty off for days and have nothing to show for it… do you ever have days/weeks like that? I have been having a lot of these days here lately and they are starting to bum me out. Hopefully, things will feel like they are coming together soon! To brighten up my day, let’s talk clothes! 😉

The inspiration for today’s outfits began with Ada’s dress. I saw this dress at Gap at the start of fall and just had to have it. A good thing too, because it is unavailable now. I found a similar dress here (this one is really cute with all the woodland creatures on it and with all the right colors, too!) I paired her dress with mustard sweater tights from Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised with these tights. They are super soft, thick, affordable, and the color is a perfect mustard. And since Ada is all about dresses right now, (which is the greatest thing ever!) I plan on getting a few pair so she can wear her dresses this winter.

For my dress, I wanted one just like Ada’s because I love it that much. But unfortunately, they do not make that dress in my size. But I came across this dress from Ruche. I love the colors and a shift dress is perfect for the big meal on Thursday. My favorite part is the tie in the front. It helps gather the fabric just enough to give me a waist without being too tight. The dress is still loose, but not baggy loose. I was very lucky in getting this dress because it just kept selling out. Not only did I catch it in stock in my size, but on sale and I had some store credit! Woot, woot! My shoes are one of my most favorite purchases from Modcloth. I have had them for several years now and they go with so many of my fall outfits. Here are a similar pair.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and that you are more on top of things than I am! Now I am going to go pour myself a glass of wine and write down my to-do list. Here’s to getting things done – tomorrow! 😉

Halloween 2017

This Halloween was probably the best yet! Ada is at such a fun age right now. I wish she could stay this age forever! I love her running around, asking questions, chatting with us, and understanding what a party signifies. (That’s my girl!) I told her several days in advance that we were having a Halloween party with our friends. She got all excited and started singing, “Happy Birthday!” I am so proud! 😉

We had a simple party with good eats, pumpkin painting with glow-in-the-dark paint, and glow sticks. I think my favorite part were the glow stick necklaces & bracelets. The kids loved them, of course, but watching the adults enjoy them too was even better! I had a great time decorating for Halloween this year, which was pretty much the first for me. Target had so many cute things that it was easy and fun.

After the party, Randy found a video of a boozy caramel apple bar. Sounds like it could be fun! I guess we will just have to have another party soon! 😉

Ada had her very first s’more, but I am not sure she liked it. Blasphemy I know… no way she can be my kid. Just kidding! I think she didn’t like the sticky marshmallow all over her face. She is such a little princess and I love it.

On Halloween night, we took Ada trick or treating for the first time. We stopped by a local petting zoo, where we trick or treated and got to pet animals. Ada, naturally, fell in love with this baby bunny. But who am I kidding? We all fell in love with this little baby bunny! It was all we could do to give the bunny back. She screamed bloody murder until we gave her, her very first sucker. After that, the bunny was old news. So now Ada has been asking for candy ever since. After the zoo, we took her downtown to go trick or treating at all the shops.

Celebrating Halloween with Ada has been so much fun! Seeing the joy and excitement in her eyes is, seriously, the greatest thing of all time. I loved dressing all of us up as her favorite characters from Monsters, Inc. I hope we can continue to do family costumes, but time will tell. Until then, I am going to soak it all in – the family costumes, the magic, holding her hand from door to door, and giving her candy for dinner. I hope you all had a great Halloween! Happy November, ya’ll!

Halloween Fun

Since it is Halloween month, I have been having so much fun finding Halloween activities for Ada to do. After the pumpkin painting party, she has been talking non-stop about it. (Which makes me feel like mom of year over here!) So I thought I would print out some pumpkins for her to decorate and send to the grandparents.

I ordered more Crayola Kid’s Washable Paint, but this time I got glitter paint. I love the vivid colors and the glitter just makes it so fun. Ada calls it shiny paint then proceeds to sing, “Cause I’m shiny!” (Moana song for those of you who do not know).

After painting, we had a picnic lunch that was pumpkin themed. I cut her PB&J sandwich with a mini pumpkin cookie cutter, served carrots and ranch in a pumpkin bowl and cheez-its (because they are orange and delicious and addicting — oh, why did I buy cheez-its?!). Oh and her orange drink is actually orange Pedialyte (she has been under the weather for the past couple of days).

And to top it all off, an adorable kitty outfit! OldNavy has done it again with their Boo-tique this year. I love all the black cats and Ada’s second favorite animal is a kitty. So she will be sporting this outfit all month long and then some. 😉

I hope you are all having as much fun as we are! And that you are celebrating Halloween all month long! 😉

Pumpkin Painting Party

Tis the season for pumpkin everything! And since Ada just loves to paint, I figured a pumpkin painting party would be the perfect way to celebrate fall/Halloween. Plus, carving a pumpkin with a two year old sounds like a terrible mess! This way, we can still decorate a pumpkin without all the cleanup. Win, win!

Last week, the weather was perfect for painting outside. I just cut open a large black garbage bag to put over my table to help contain the paint and we used Crayola’s Washable Paint (which is amazing, btw!). I also had colorful Halloween stickers and pumpkin tattoos for the kids to use.

Inside, we had some tasty goodies to enjoy! Apple cider & pumpkin donuts, s’mores cookies, pretzels, apple slices with caramel, and hot apple cider. The kids were definitely running around with a sugar high by the end of the party. But it was totally worth it! 😉

I found these adorable party favor bags in the dollar section of Target! I just love the bright colors! I filled the bags with fun size bags of M&Ms and they also got to take home a kitty pumpkin tattoo.

We all had so much fun and I had a blast putting it all together! Ada is still talking about painting pumpkins so it sounds like I need to go pick up some more pumpkins! 😉 Happy early Halloween ya’ll!

Party Sources: I found all my Halloween decorations in the dollar section of Target. And I made the paper bats.

Our Fourth

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July with your friends and family!

We had the greatest fourth spent with all of our dear friends! Everyone came over for a fun cookout at our house. The kids played in the yard, the kiddie pool, and we all enjoyed some good food & drinks. After playing all day in the sun & eating until we popped; we all went to a friends house on top of a mountain to watch fireworks. We watched fireworks going off all over Hendersonville. Seeing all the fireworks above the blue ridge mountains was just beautiful. Ada loved the fireworks and kept saying, “Boom! Noise!” We also pulled out some sparklers for the kids to look at and Ada ended up being a bit afraid of them. So I am glad that we were not terribly close to the real fireworks. Maybe next year she will enjoy being closer to action. 😉

Ada’s face in this photo is seriously the best! Haha!

I am so very blessed to have all these people to share life with. I love my tribe!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Happy Sunday!

Mama + Mini Monday: Red, White, & Blue

I am so excited for July 4th weekend! I just can not wait to see Ada’s reaction to some fireworks and all the other wonderfulness that this holiday brings. We haven’t finalized our plans yet, due to Randy’s crazy work schedule. But I am hoping that we, at least, see some fireworks and enjoy some s’mores! I put together a little Mama + Mini 4th of July outfit today – this is just one of several that I have planned for us this week (yeah – sorry, I’m not sorry!). 😉

As I am sure you have noticed, this dress of mine is old. I got it from Belk’s about three years ago and is still a favorite of mine. The skirt is so flowy and it has a vintage flair to it. Here are a few options that are similar: chambray maxi , striped maxi , & navy skirt.

I found Ada’s dress last year on clearance at my local Gap outlet store. When I saw it, I literally jumped for joy because I knew it would match my my favorite maxi. A similar option is this one.

Ada’s bow is a favorite of mine this summer from Emmy’s Pretties. I love that it is red, white, & blue for the 4th; but it can still be worn all summer long.

So here’s to the week going by fast and for sunshine all weekend long! Happy Monday ya’ll!

July 4th Favorites

Celebrating July 4th is a holiday I look forward to every summer! It’s usually a long weekend or vacation time for us and I love fireworks! Not to mention all the fun that comes with celebrating July 4th – eating hot dogs + watermelon, playing at the lake, making s’mores and spending time with family. And don’t forget – wearing all the cute red, white, and blue! 🙂

There are so many adorable July 4th options for little girls to wear. I prefer holiday outfits that Ada can wear outside the holidays, so simple colors and designs. June + January have wonderful options – dresses, shirts, shorts, etc. My favorites are their swing dresses and varsity shorts. The shorts pair perfectly with all of Ada’s tops, especially chambray for the summer. I came across this popsicle dress at Target and just had to have it. Isn’t it the cutest? It is a pinafore style and the straps criss-cross in the back – just adorable. And to finish up her outfits this summer, she will of course need accessories: a bow, necklace and shoes! And we cannot forget mama! For the 4th, I like to wear casual dresses and tops. This pinstripe peplum top is so, so cute and is a top that you can wear all summer long. And you have to make sure that you have some red, like these red shorts.

I look forward to celebrating the 4th with Ada this year. She is at a really fun age and I can’t wait to see her reaction to fireworks this year. And she can really enjoy all the festivities of the holiday – playing outside, popsicles and s’mores! So much fun! Hope you all had a great week and happy Friday!

Summer Starts Here

Our Memorial Day weekend was pretty low key here – basically enjoying the gorgeous weather hiking, playing in the kiddie pool, and eating popsicles. For Memorial Day, we spent the day at Chimney Rock, which is practically in our backyard. I forgot how beautiful the view is from the top; even if you have to climb 500 stairs to get to it! It is definitely worth it; especially, if you enjoy some ice cream at the end. 😉

Ada’s favorite part of the hike was this ginormous flag at the top. She would hold her arms out wide and say, “Fly, fly!” (Her way of saying flag.)

A few weeks ago, I was getting ready to pack away all of Ada’s pacifiers. She hasn’t really touched them in a month or so. But as soon as I was getting ready to pack them away, Ada all of sudden, became super attached to them. It was like she knew they were getting ready to disappear. Now she hardly goes anywhere without one. I am guessing it is because she has been working on her incisors for a little while now. So that is why she has pacifiers in all her pictures now. Hopefully, she will drop them soon!

These mini pop molds are the cutest ever and the most perfect size for her. I can’t wait to try other recipes this summer! Like, these nutella cool whip popsicles – um, yum!

In the mornings we enjoy our local park. Ada can climb up and slide back down all by herself now! I am so proud and at the same time so sad. She is needing me less and less everyday! (Sorry, emotional mom here!)

This kiddie pool was the best $30 we have ever spent! Ada loves this pool and wants to play in it every day. So when the sun is out, so are we. It has been so nice to sit on the back porch, soaking in some sun, and playing with Ada in the pool. I am loving this casual, laid back summer and never want it to end.

I hope you are all enjoying summer time as much as we are! Here’s to the best summer yet!

Mother’s Day Weekend

Happy late Mother’s Day ya’ll! Sorry this is so, so late… May is a busy month for us. I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend with the ones you love! Last year on Mother’s Day, Randy was traveling for work, so I went to stay with family because you know, it was my first Mother’s Day. 😉 Ada was almost 9 months old and did not sleep well anywhere but in her own crib at home. So I remember her waking up often and staying awake forever each time. I tried so many things to help her go back to sleep, but she wasn’t having it. And even though I was very sleep deprived, it was also a weekend I will always cherished. Because the night before Mother’s Day, was one of the last nights I breastfed Ada. At the time, I didn’t really think much about it (in fact, all I could think about was sleep), but looking back on it now, I see that it was such a sweet moment that I will never forget.

This Mother’s Day was very similar to last year. Randy was traveling for work and I went to stay with family. (Seeing a trend here?) And you guessed it, Ada did not sleep well at my parents’ house. So I had another sleep deprived Mother’s Day but again, it was a sweet time. This year Ada is running around and loving my parents’ front yard. Their yard if full of flowers, birds, butterflies, frogs, and a gorgeous waterfall. I had a wonderful weekend with my family and throughly enjoyed playing outside with my sweet, little girl.

I love how Ada is photo bombing in this picture! Haha!

But the best moment is when I taught Ada how to twirl. (Just click on the link for the video.) Isn’t she the cutest?!

I am so very grateful for my little Ada – my gift from God; a wonderful, loving mother; a loving, fun family; and a husband who is the absolute best father to our daughter. Happy late Mother’s Day ya’ll!

Our Easter Weekend

There is something so peaceful about waking up before everyone else in the house. Easter Sunday I was so excited to celebrate this holiday with Ada that I was up before anyone else. Therefore, I got to enjoy a beautiful Easter sunrise while I drank my coffee. The birds were singing, the sky was an array of colors, and I had a few minutes to myself to remember the importance of Easter.

I am pretty sure that I was more excited about giving Ada her Easter basket than anyone else in the house! It took me about two months to complete and I loved everything in there. Especially, the jewelry (necklace & bracelets).

I think Ada was pretty much in love with her basket this year, too. The jewelry was a huge hit and the bunny theme dinnerware was even bigger hit! Who knew, right? 😉

And of course, the bubbles were Ada’s absolute favorite! We will be keeping bubbles in stock for the rest of summer! We have gone outside for bubbles everyday since Easter – rain or shine.

We have had a lot of rain here lately, so we were lucky to squeeze in a quick family photo in between rain storms on Easter. And of course, Ada did not want to take any photos, evident by the tears still in her eyes. But I think we got a few good ones. 😉

I love how she holding onto Randy’s tie in these pictures. I just love these two!

As you can see, Ada does not go anywhere without her lovie – or as she calls it, Hop-Hop. I don’t mind, I think it is the cutest!

Ada’s dress is actually from her one year photo shoot. I was so glad that it still fit 8 months later. I bought this dress about a year ago from a consignment shop. I adore the details; embroidery, buttons, pleating, lace trim – what’s not to love?! Her hat was a another Kidizen find – I have found so many great deals on this app! At church, everyone knew that she was my daughter because of her hat. Wearing a hat on Sunday is kinda my thing. I am just thrilled that Ada loves them as much as I do!

We finished up the day with friends and a beautiful Easter dinner. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend filled with friends, family, and good eats.
