Our Fourth

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July with your friends and family!

We had the greatest fourth spent with all of our dear friends! Everyone came over for a fun cookout at our house. The kids played in the yard, the kiddie pool, and we all enjoyed some good food & drinks. After playing all day in the sun & eating until we popped; we all went to a friends house on top of a mountain to watch fireworks. We watched fireworks going off all over Hendersonville. Seeing all the fireworks above the blue ridge mountains was just beautiful. Ada loved the fireworks and kept saying, “Boom! Noise!” We also pulled out some sparklers for the kids to look at and Ada ended up being a bit afraid of them. So I am glad that we were not terribly close to the real fireworks. Maybe next year she will enjoy being closer to action. 😉

Ada’s face in this photo is seriously the best! Haha!

I am so very blessed to have all these people to share life with. I love my tribe!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Happy Sunday!

Mama + Mini Monday: Red, White, & Blue

I am so excited for July 4th weekend! I just can not wait to see Ada’s reaction to some fireworks and all the other wonderfulness that this holiday brings. We haven’t finalized our plans yet, due to Randy’s crazy work schedule. But I am hoping that we, at least, see some fireworks and enjoy some s’mores! I put together a little Mama + Mini 4th of July outfit today – this is just one of several that I have planned for us this week (yeah – sorry, I’m not sorry!). 😉

As I am sure you have noticed, this dress of mine is old. I got it from Belk’s about three years ago and is still a favorite of mine. The skirt is so flowy and it has a vintage flair to it. Here are a few options that are similar: chambray maxi , striped maxi , & navy skirt.

I found Ada’s dress last year on clearance at my local Gap outlet store. When I saw it, I literally jumped for joy because I knew it would match my my favorite maxi. A similar option is this one.

Ada’s bow is a favorite of mine this summer from Emmy’s Pretties. I love that it is red, white, & blue for the 4th; but it can still be worn all summer long.

So here’s to the week going by fast and for sunshine all weekend long! Happy Monday ya’ll!

July 4th Favorites

Celebrating July 4th is a holiday I look forward to every summer! It’s usually a long weekend or vacation time for us and I love fireworks! Not to mention all the fun that comes with celebrating July 4th – eating hot dogs + watermelon, playing at the lake, making s’mores and spending time with family. And don’t forget – wearing all the cute red, white, and blue! 🙂

There are so many adorable July 4th options for little girls to wear. I prefer holiday outfits that Ada can wear outside the holidays, so simple colors and designs. June + January have wonderful options – dresses, shirts, shorts, etc. My favorites are their swing dresses and varsity shorts. The shorts pair perfectly with all of Ada’s tops, especially chambray for the summer. I came across this popsicle dress at Target and just had to have it. Isn’t it the cutest? It is a pinafore style and the straps criss-cross in the back – just adorable. And to finish up her outfits this summer, she will of course need accessories: a bow, necklace and shoes! And we cannot forget mama! For the 4th, I like to wear casual dresses and tops. This pinstripe peplum top is so, so cute and is a top that you can wear all summer long. And you have to make sure that you have some red, like these red shorts.

I look forward to celebrating the 4th with Ada this year. She is at a really fun age and I can’t wait to see her reaction to fireworks this year. And she can really enjoy all the festivities of the holiday – playing outside, popsicles and s’mores! So much fun! Hope you all had a great week and happy Friday!

Our July 4th

I have always enjoyed the 4th of July – sunshine, parades, cookouts, fireworks, and all red, white and blue! And I was even more excited to share this holiday with my daughter! We had a low key weekend at home, mostly because I am pretty sure fireworks and parades would absolutely terrify Ada right now! But next year, I am sure that we will watch fireworks. I can’t wait to see her first reaction to them! Although, I am sure she will be terrified of fireworks then, too! 😉

I am glad that we were able to get a July 4th family photo – thanks to a newly required selfie stick. I think they are terribly hilarious, but they sure do make family photos a lot easier!

We even sported our red, white, and blue for church. I love her little pointed toes in this photo.

For the 4th, we had our friends over for a cookout, complete with red, white, and blue sangria! It was the first time I have ever made sangria and it was pretty darn delicious! You can find the recipe I used here. We had a great time, drinking sangria and watching our little babies play together.

Ada’s first July 4th outfit was so cute! When I saw this onesie, I couldn’t resist. I knew it would make the perfect first July 4th outfit for Ada!

She is definitely our little firecracker!

It is getting a little bit harder to take good picture of her any more, she is such a little wiggle worm!

33 Weeks

IMG_4333

Baby Maples is the size of a honeydew melon and weighs 4.5 pounds!

How far along? 33
Maternity clothes? yes, but mostly my maxi and shift dresses
Stretch marks? not yet
Sleep: sleeping has been ok – third trimester insomnia has started. I usually toss and turn all night and then wake up around 4 or 5 am – it’s lovely…
Best moment this week: It has been awhile since my last post, so a lot of great things have happened: we got our nursery glider and it is seriously the most comfortable chair in the house. Randy and I take turns sitting in it every night! We went to our first baby shower, I discovered that my snoogle can be formed into a donut which I can put my belly into (glorious!) and we celebrated July 4th with friends
Miss anything? my brain, refreshing summer cocktails and doing anything without feeling completely exhausted
Movement: Baby Girl is still moving all the time
Food cravings: strawberries, raspberries, banana pudding ice-cream from Publix (seriously, it’s amazing!)
Food aversions: not food aversions, just everything I eat gives me bad acid reflux and heartburn – but Zantac has really helped, thank you for the suggestion!
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: no
Symptoms: Pregnant brain, fatigue, acid reflux
Belly Button in or out? still half in and half out
Wedding rings on or off? on but they do feel tighter – not sure if it is due to the summer heat or the pregnancy
Mood: happy but so very tired
Looking forward to: Baby Girl’s arrival – it is all I can think about! 🙂

We had our first baby shower two weekends ago, given to us by Randy’s parents. It was a wonderful shower and we loved every minute of it. 🙂

The cake was definitely a hit! It had to be the cutest and most perfect cake ever!

July 4th was spent with our dearest friends. We cooked out, ate strawberries and cookies and enjoyed the fireworks together.

I hope everyone had a magical July 4th weekend! Now that July 4th is over, fall is on the brain! Who’s with me?! Bring on the pumpkin! 😉

Our July 4th Weekend

July 4th was a fun packed weekend filled with family, fantastic weather and of course, good food!

My parents, brother and sister-in-law came up to spend the weekend with us. I am so glad that everyone came to us because we were pleasantly surprised with fall-ish weather! We kept all the windows opened and ate outside every chance we got! It was wonderful and made me wish for fall to get here even faster!

We started the morning with 4th of July toast.

We had a wonderful cookout – spicy peach glazed chicken, grilled corn on the cob, potato salad, anasazi beans and of course, red velvet cupcakes! Another thing checked off on our summer bucket list!

The last day we cooked and went downtown. And you have to cook in style of course! Mom got me this apron which is absolutely perfect! It says, “Will cook for shoes!” Yep… that’s me!
