Intermix Diaper Bag

When I found out I was pregnant with Ada, I picked out my first diaper bag from Skip Hop. I really loved the design and felt that it was a gender neutral color aka Randy would feel comfortable carrying it. It worked well for our needs for a while, but it wasn’t long before we outgrew that diaper bag. I then transitioned to a huge tote – not just a big tote, I’m talking the mother of all totes. It was huge, which I liked, but extremely heavy and difficult to carry. (I pack a lot in my diaper bag, if you haven’t guessed that already. Do you? No? Well, I guess its just me then!) After I pulled muscles in my shoulder while trying to put Ada in her carseat and at the same time, trying to manage that huge tote, I decided I needed something different.

That was when I found the Intermix Collection from Petunia Pickle Bottom. I absolutely love this diaper bag! The Intermix is a customizable system of bags and accessories that you can mix and match to create exactly what you need. I chose the Birch and Black bag and love the colors + simple design.

When I was researching for my next diaper bag, I knew that I wanted a backpack. Since I am chasing a toddler around, I definitely wanted something that would keep my hands free! When I found the intermix collection, I instantly fell in love with how the bag opened. The whole front opens up, giving you easy access to everything inside. Plus, getting to choose which and how many storage cubes to put inside your bag was a huge plus for me. Now everything has it’s own place, is easy to get to, and suits my organizing needs.

I love that I can pack cold snacks and drinks in the insulated cube. Perfect for those of you still carrying formula or breast milk. I have a place for extra clothes, toys, crayons, and I even have my own cube to store all of my things! This bag definitely has enough space for me!

The Intermix Collection is a great diaper bag system and is great for busy moms who need a little help in getting all their stuff organized – especially, the moms who feel like they need to pack everything but the kitchen sink. 😉

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! If you are in the market for a new diaper bag, check out Petunia Pickle Bottom – they have something for everyone!

11 Month Favorites

It is hard to imagine that we are now less than one month away from Ada’s first birthday. It is amazing how fast time has flown by. So before we get to her first birthday, here are our 11 month favorites!

11 Month Favorites

  1. Simba Travel Containers – I have been looking for travel food containers for a while. I thought about getting the Zoli travel containers, but at $20 it was a little pricey. The Simba is only $9 and it is large enough to fit bigger snacks. And I love that it can hold formula, too. The formula dispenser I had before, I had to beat the formula out of it! Now it is smooth sailing when it comes to making a bottle.
  2. Oxo Bib – I love the idea of a silicone bib, with the food catcher at the bottom. But Ada has always struggled getting her little arms around it and grabbing her food. This bib has a soft top so it is easier for her to move around it and we can catch all her food. Win, win!
  3. Joovy Walker – I know that research says that a walker delays walking, but my daughter is already delayed, so we got her one on Craigslist. I love this walker because there is a nice, big, blank tray instead of a tray with all kinds of toys in her face. She loves moving around while looking at her books and it is nice to leave her sippy cup and snacks on the tray, too. She hasn’t figured out how to move forwards yet, but she can move backwards. And any kind of workout for her legs, I think, is a good thing at this point.
  4. Tote – We have officially outgrown our diaper bag. Carrying bottles, formula, snacks, bibs, utensils, toys, blankets, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, etc – the diaper bag was no longer big enough. I found this large tote at Target and it has worked very well for us. I use Sugar Snap Files, to help keep everything organize.
  5. Sleeper – I found some awesome sleepers at Primary.com. I love them because they button all the way down on both sides (couldn’t find an accurate pic) and they are not snug fit. Most larger sleepers are snug fit, which are not comfortable for Ada’s cute, chubby thighs. And they are super soft, so these sleepers are perfect!
  6. Book – This is Ada’s favorite book right now. She loves the flaps and the different sounds. Her favorite sound is the sheep, she plays that one over and over and imitates it. It is adorable!

I hope you ya’ll have a wonderful weekend! I am off to plan Ada’s first birthday! I am so excited to throw her a party!

Nine & Ten Month Favorites

I am running a bit behind on my monthly favorites; luckily, nine and ten months didn’t differ much. Ada’s favorite toys right now are any toys that play music. She can’t get enough of them! She loves to dance, clap, and sing along! It is seriously, the cutest thing ever! So here is a list of our favorites these past two months:

Blocks – I gave Ada these blocks months ago and she has shown almost no interest in them until now. Now she loves to chew on them, throw them, and she is now learning how to stack them. Although, her favorite thing to do with them is watch mommy build a block tower, which she quickly destroys. #blocktowerdestroyer (And the colors are beautiful!)

Snail – My parents got this toy for Ada, upon my request. I was hoping that a toy that moved would inspire her to chase it – that was hopeful thinking on my part. When she first got this toy, she was absolutely terrified of it. (That was something else I didn’t expect.) But now she really likes it. She likes to watch it roll pass her and she claps along to the music. She also enjoys trying to catch it as it closely rolls pass her. She is very proud of herself when she does catch it. The shell is great too, it can be used as a small stackable tower. Hopefully, she will one day want to chase it down, instead of sitting there waiting for it to come to her!

Sippy Cup – We loved our other sippy cup and it was a great first, but I felt like Ada had to hold her head way back to get water out of it. So I did some research and this sippy cup was the highest rated. It took Ada about two weeks to figure it out and now she can suck down some water! She loves it and we take it everywhere with us – especially since it has been so hot outside here lately. I love the weighted straw. No matter what position the cup is in, Ada can get water out of it. It also seems pretty durable, she has thrown it and dropped it so many times. It doesn’t even have a scratch on it!

Cell Phone – Since she loves playing telephone and is so interested in my cell phone, I decided to get her very own. She loves it and her favorite part is pressing the music button (of course!). I like the lanyard on it, because I can easily attach it to her stroller bar and she is unable to throw it out! This phone has given her hours of entertainment in the car and on the go. #lifesaver

Num Num – These num num sticks have been great at teaching Ada how to feed herself. And they are awesome teethers! Ada really does try to feed herself with these. She can get the food to her mouth, but she hasn’t quite mastered getting the food on the stick. She tries; she can place the stick on top of her food and then waits for me to dip it for her. It won’t be long now before she figures how to do it all by herself. Man, she is growing up so fast! Oh, and letting her use these makes a horrible mess! She loves to throw the num num full of sticky fruit puree! But let her be little, right?

Stand Table – I am actually surprised how much Ada loves this table. Now she can’t stand up on her own, I have to balance her on my leg (great workout for mommy). But she loves pressing the buttons, seeing all the lights, and of course, dancing to the music! I think it is a toy she will still love as she gets older. Especially, when she can stand up on her own!

Teething Wafers – I know these are not particularly nutritional, but Ada loves them and they provide enough entertainment for her while she watches me cook dinner. I place her in her high chair, give her one of these, and she is good to go for a good 45 minutes!

Hope everyone is having a great week! Happy Hump Day!

8 Month Favorites

8 months is a fun age! I feel like I say that every time I do a monthly favorite. I guess it is just fun to watch Ada grow and learn to do new things. Right now, Ada is starting to grab everything in her reach. So her favorite things to play with, is everything that isn’t a toy! 🙂 But here is a small list of our favorites this month:

8 months

Puffs – Ada is now feeding herself… I know, right?! She is feeding herself! I started her on these puffs to help teach her to feed herself and they have done just that. She loves to feed herself and these puffs are great for little fingers to pick up.

Stacker – This stacker has been a great toy for Ada. I love that it is made of silicone, so it is great for her to chew on. It is a small stacker, about 6 inches tall. I like that it is small for Ada’s small hands and she loves to launch these pieces across the room!

Lovie – We are late on getting her a lovie and I wish we had started a little sooner. Ada loves her blankets, but it makes me nervous to leave one in the crib for her at night. So we got her this lovie so she can hold on to something at night. It took a few weeks for her to become attach to it, but now she uses it every night. This lovie is made from the same company that makes my favorite burp cloths. It is very soft and not to mention, adorable!

Activity Triangle – She has had a blast with this activity triangle. It came with the elephant as well, but she doesn’t like it as much. I guess she will learn to play with that one later. But the triangle is great and she spends a lot of time playing with it.

Stroller – We love this stroller! This is one thing that we have used since she was a newborn and will continue to use for a long time after. The best thing about this stroller is that it grows with your baby. The newborn carseat clicks into this stroller, which is great when you have a sleeping newborn and do not want to disturb her. You just grab the seat, click her in the stroller and you are good to go. The toddler seat is something that we have just started using and Ada loves it. Now that she can hold herself up well, she loves sitting in it and looking around. We have been using the stroller a lot here lately, now that warmer weather has finally come to the mountains! 🙂

Mini Spatulas – Ada grabbed this off the kitchen counter one day and has not stopped playing with it. It has actually been the best teether for Ada. It is small enough for her to manipulate with her little hands and it fits in her little mouth very well. She loves chewing on this thing! Who knew, right?

Happy Hump Day ya’ll! Hope you have a great day!

7 Month Favorites

Ada is pretty much over all of her “baby” toys right now. I think she is ready for bigger and better. 😉 So I had some fun finding some new toys for her this month and she is loving them! Here are some of our favorites this month:

7 Months

Puppy – Ada is loving stuffed animals right now. She loves snuggling up to them and throwing them around. Jellycat makes mine and Ada’s favorite stuffed animals. They are simply adorable and super soft.

Jump-a-roo – Ada seems to have finally discover that she can bounce in this thing. Before, she would just sit in it, but now she moves around and it is a whole new toy! I am glad that she is moving around in this because otherwise, she doesn’t know what her legs are for. 😉

Cookbook – One of the best cookbooks I have purchased. Worth every penny! I use it everyday to get ideas on blends and different purees for Ada to try. They have so many ideas for blends that taste surprisingly good; like, green beans and pears, avocado and banana, and chicken, sweet potato, and apple. So far, she has liked everything I have made her.

Caterpillar – This is a neat toy. There are 5 individual balls that each have there own colors and noises. They are a little difficult to attach together (at least I think so), but the balls fit Ada’s little hands very well. She loves passing them from one hand to another, banging them together, and of course, throwing them!

Boon Bath Toys – These have been great for Ada, now that she is sitting up in the tub. She loves to chew on them and they fit her hands well. And since there are no holes, I don’t have to worry about mold growing inside the toys! Win win!

Highchair – Best highchair ever! I love that this highchair rolls around and so does Ada. I can put her in the highchair and roll her around the kitchen while I cook. And it is a great place to put toys in front of her to entertain herself. I love that it has adjustable height. I can raise her up so she can see what is going on at the kitchen counter and I can lower her down to our dining room table. Plus, there is no fabric with this chair, which is a huge deal for me! Clean up is so easy!

Dress – The bodysuit dresses have been my favorite! I love putting dresses on Ada, but when you pick her up the dress rides up and gets all bunched up. It is kinda of irritating, for both of us! But with these, there is no ride up and it stays put! Plus, they usually come with cardigans and cardigans on babies are the cutest!

Happy Hump Day ya’ll! Hope you are having a fantastic week!

P.S. This hairstyle… Those big blue eyes … I can’t even…! 🙂

Six Month Favorites

Six months has been such a fun age! I love that Ada is mostly sitting up on her own; it makes play time so much fun! But a lot of times, Ada is more interested in non-toy items – like, my coffee mug! 🙂 But here are a few things that Ada and I have enjoyed this month.

6 months

Finger Puppet Books – I found these books in a consignment shop and Ada loves playing with the soft puppets. And I think they are really cute, with beautiful colors.

Nuby Teethers – These teethers have been awesome! Ada loves them and they fit her little hands so well. It is a good thing I have those drool bibs, because she drools like mad when she chews on these! But she is happy!

Crab – I am not sure why Ada likes this stuffed crab so much, but she does. She laughs when I scratch the crab’s belly – the fabric there is a little rougher and it makes noise. And she loves hugging it and chewing on it.

Chew Beads – Ada has been going to town on her rattlers here lately. She loves swinging them around and of course, chewing on them. She also loves playing “lets see how many times mom will play fetch” with these toys. 🙂

Beaba – Before I had Ada, I was not going to get one of these. I thought it was silly to invest in a blender just for baby. But I got one for Christmas and I love it! It has been making baby food for Ada so simple and easy! It steams, blends, defrosts and reheats food all in one machine. And I can do everything with one hand! Very handy when you are holding a baby (see what I did there? Haha!). Anything to make my life easier right now is a good thing!

Ergo 360 – I wish I had invested in one of these when Ada was first born. It would have made my life so much easier. We had a baby carrier that someone gave us, but I didn’t like it and Ada didn’t either. I love that Ada can be carried in several different ways in the 360. Our favorite is the hip carry. Since Ada is going through the separation anxiety right now, this carrier makes it easier for me to work and run errands. I highly recommend this carrier to every parent! I was able to find it on eBay for a great price. So if you are looking for a baby carrier, check out eBay first! 😉

And the little muchkin! Love this sweet little girl!

What are some of your favorite, must have baby gear? Hope every one is having a lovely week! Happy Hump Day!

Valentine’s Day Fun

Hello February! Hard to believe that January is already over and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Just two weeks away and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this holiday with a little one! For the past two years, Valentine’s Day has been pretty epic for us. Two years ago, I was suppose to fly out to San Francisco to meet Randy, but got snowed in by snowstorm Pax instead (we still had a romantic weekend, regardless!). Last year, we announced that we were expecting Ada! And this year, we get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with our sweet little girl!

As you can see, I really enjoy celebrating every holiday with Ada. Having a baby is so much fun during any of the holidays and I love all the Valentine’s Day outfits and books for little ones. Here are some goodies I plan to give Ada for her first Valentine’s Day!

Book – I love getting books for each holiday for Ada. Actually, I just love getting books for Ada… it’s pretty bad! She already has a library of books, I just keep buying more! It’s an obsession! Good thing Ada loves looking at books, she has plenty to choose from!

Sippy cup – This cup has been great for Ada so far. She drinks from it with ease and loves looking at the colors. She has just started holding it too, so this cup is great for training!

Sleeper – Ada lives in sleepers! They are the best thing (I think) to put a baby in. This one is really cute with it’s matching bib. Ada also has several more Valentine’s Day themed sleepers from Old Navy. They are just too cute to pass up!

Heart Bath Cups – Since Ada finally enjoys bath time, I picked up these bath cups for her to play with. They have little holes on the bottom and they have soft edges. I think she is going to love playing with them.

Socks – These socks from Old Navy are not only really cute, but they are super soft. And the colors go with a lot of her wardrobe already, so she will be wearing them for a long time!

Bow – Zozu Baby is my favorite place to get Ada’s bows. This bow is so beautiful! I am excited for Ada to wear it for Valentine’s Day and for Easter! FYI, all the mini felt bows Ada wears everyday, I get them here.

Happy Monday ya’ll!

Four & Five Month Favorites

I feel like Ada has grown up so much this past month! She is now teething, eating some solids and is working on sitting up completely on her own now! It is almost like one day she woke up and decided she wanted to eat our food and sit up all by herself.  Where did my little newborn go?!237b3fd5-7aa8-4a2d-9f06-9a37bca9d8cf

Nuby Bibs – With all this teething, Ada is a drooling machine! She goes through bibs and clothes at a phenomenal rate! That is, until I found these bibs. They truly keep Ada’s clothes dry and Ada enjoys the teether on the bottom too! They are kinda hard to find, but you can find them at Walmart and Target (but not Amazon!).

Bamboo Swaddle Blankets – I know I have mentioned these blankets before, but Ada has shown a huge interest in her blankets here lately. She loves holding onto them, rubbing her face with them and chewing on them. I like the bamboo swaddle the best because they are really thin and super soft. I feel comfortable with her napping with them because they are so thin and breathable. Plus, I just love this turquoise color!

Boogie Wipes – These wipes are nice for my teething Ada. Not only is she drooling a lot, she also has had a stuffy and runny nose. I love the way the fresh scent smells and it is easy on her sensitive nose. I know these will come in handy this winter with all these colds going around!  Note: I tear these wipes in half to make the pack last longer! The wipes are so big anyways, half a wipe is more than enough for a little one’s nose!

Baby Oatmeal – I can’t believe Ada is already eating solids! Just… wow! She has just started on Oatmeal and seems to like it pretty good. I do mix in some fruit into the oatmeal, otherwise it is pretty tasteless! Haha! So far, Ada enjoys banana! I’ll be introducing sweet potatoes soon!

Tummy Time Pillow – As I have mentioned before, Ada really hates tummy time. She screams at the top of her lungs, turns beet red and has tears running down her cheeks. It seriously the worst thing ever! For Christmas, she received this pillow and she actually likes it! She lays on it and plays with the crunchy toys. Maybe because she is a little bit older, but we can now do tummy time thanks to this pillow!

Sophie the Giraffe – I know that this toy is everywhere and on everyone’s registry. I don’t know what it is that babies like about this toy, but Ada really loves her Sophie. She loves chewing on this toy and laughs every time I squeak it! Plus, it is adorable!

Pink Poodle – This is Ada’s absolutely most favorite toy! She just squeals in delight, laughs and kicks and wiggles about every time we get it out to play. I guess she finds the rattling and jittering hilarious! Whenever she is upset, this is the toy that I bring out to make her happy again!

Two and Three Months Favorites

It is amazing to watch your little one grow. One minute you are holding a tiny, snuggly bundle to a interactive, funny baby. I love watching Ada take in her world. Her eyes light up at just about everything, especially when people talk to her. And she is sitting up and getting better at it daily. I have mixed feelings about her getting older – a part of me wants her to stay little forever and the other part of me is excited to see the next stage. But mostly, I wish time would slow so I could enjoy each stage for longer… but I am sure I will not be wishing that by the time potty training comes along!

PicMonkey Collage

Aveeno Baby Creamy Wash – Ada has very dry sky and this wash seems to help out a little bit. I also use the Aveeno lotion to help battle this dry skin. Any suggestions on how to cure dry skin on a baby? And Aveeno products smell really good, not like baby powder (which I do not like). I love using this wash because Ada smells amazing for a long time. Ada, on the other hand, can’t stand bath time. I’m hoping that will improve with time.

Burp Cloths – Both Ada and I love these burp cloths. They are expensive, but they seem to be the only ones Ada doesn’t mind for me to use on her all day every day. She has started to drool now, so I am constantly rubbing her face. Not only are they really soft, they are also absorbent for those surprise spit up moments.

Mother’s Milk Tea – This stuff taste like licorice, which I hate, but it has helped with my milk supply. So I just put a good amount of honey in the tea and gulp it down.

Book – Ada enjoys this book very much. I keep it with us all around the house – from tummy time (which she still hates), to sit up/play time and for when I need to lay her down in her pack-n-play for a moment. It unfolds like an accordion so it can lay on the ground for tummy time or lean up against the inside of a crib.

Peacock – This is Ada’s favorite toy right now. Her eyes get huge when I place it in front of her and she starts kicking like crazy. I also keep this toy with us all day; especially in the car. This company really knows what babies like, because I have a cloth book of their’s and Ada loves that as well. I’m thinking about getting her some more toys from this company for Christmas!

I hope this has helped some new moms out. I am, by no means, an expert. But I love reading advice from other mommy bloggers so I hope this has helped you out!

My First Month Must Haves

We have survived the first month of parenthood! Woot! Woot! It has been a whirlwind of emotions and lots of sleep deprived days learning our new baby. But there have been a few things that has made this new lifestyle a bit easier.

  1. Mamaroo – The mamaroo is a lifesaver when you need to do things around the house. Ada loves it and is perfectly content to lay in it while I cook dinner or do laundry. The built in speakers are great. We use an old iPhone that is dedicated to play music just for her – Rock-a-bye Baby.
  2. Recycled Glass Tumbler – Breastfeeding makes me super thirsty all the time. I just love this recycled glass tumbler to keep cold drinks with me all day.
  3. Aden and Anais Swaddle Blankets – Everyone registers for these blankets and now I see why. I use them everyday to keep Ada warm or as a car seat cover or as a burp cloth. They are light weight, breathable and come in adorable patterns.
  4. Nursing Top – I live in this nursing top from Gap. It’s super soft and so useful for breastfeeding. I wear it around the house and it is nice enough to wear out of the house as well.
  5. Como Tomo Bottles – You never know if you will need to bottle feed your newborn. I am so glad that I had one of these on hand when she came home. Ada used it when she was two weeks old and had no problem taking it after she had been exclusively breastfed. She can easily go back and forth between breastfeeding and bottle feeding now.
  6. Drying Rack and Brush – I love this drying rack and brush from OXO. I looked into the Boon Grass drying rack, but it is not dishwasher safe. So I came across this one and love it. I have plenty of room for all my bottles and breast pump accessories and it is dishwasher safe! And the brush comes with its own stand to catch all the water that drips off it – no more messy counter tops!
  7. Button-Up Sleepers – Ada lives in these button-up sleepers. I prefer the button-up versus the zippered because the zippered kind exposes her whole body during a diaper change, which no one likes.
  8. Breast Pump – I’m glad I got a breast pump before Ada arrived. I started using mine during her second week home and have used it daily since. And I was able to get the pump through my insurance – so that saved us a lot of money.
  9. Pacifiers – Ada loves, loves, loves her pacifiers. I know people say not to use them if you are breastfeeding, but we haven’t had any trouble with her. We call the pacifiers, “The Susher,” after the movie Home (adorable movie, by the way!). They have been lifesavers for us all!
  10. Lanolin – This cream is great for soothing sore, dry nipples and I use it with my pump as well. I also made a nipple ointment that works wonders when they are cracked and bleeding.

Well, these are some things that have helped make this transition a little bit easier for us. What are some things that have helped you with a newborn?

And of course, a few pictures of my adorable little Ada! 🙂
