37 Weeks & Baby Shower

IMG_4402

Baby Maples is the size of a honeydew melon and weighs 6.5 lbs!

How far along? 37 weeks – full term!
Maternity clothes? yes, but mostly my maxi and shift dresses
Stretch marks? not yet
Sleep: sleeping has been terrible – I can’t get comfortable so I toss and turn all night. I move from bed to recliners to couches, trying to find a comfortable position – it has yet to be found
Best moment this week: had a fantastic baby shower given to us by our dearest friends – it was the coolest shower ever! We had a date night with another couple to Bouchon – enjoying a night out while we still can! 🙂 And at the doctor’s we were told that her head is down and that I am 50% effaced – it’s getting real now!
Miss anything? being comfortable and a nice cold beer – something about this hot weather makes me miss a cold beer
Movement: she is still a mover – she gets up into my ribs a lot, I think she is running out of room
Food cravings: all things fruit, veggies, brownies and ice cream – but appetite has decreased a bit
Food aversions: not food aversions, just acid reflux still – I have good days and bad days
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: I have been getting a few Braxton Hicks contractions – which is kinda exciting!
Symptoms: Fatigue, Braxton Hicks contractions, sore hips and terrible charlie horses – I really hate those things!
Belly Button in or out? still half in and half out, kinda flat – it is just all kinds of werid
Wedding rings on or off? on but they do feel tighter
Mood: happy, anxious and I’m still crying easier – I guess I am just a roller coaster of emotions
Looking forward to: holding Baby Girl – so close now!

The baby shower that our friends gave us was the most unique and sweetest shower I have ever been too. The shower took place at a children’s book store… that’s right, a bookstore. How cool is that? It was held at Spellbound Children’s Bookstore. This bookstore is the coolest place and I can’t wait to take our daughter there when she gets a little older. They had all kinds of books for all ages! I could barely contain myself in there! I wanted to buy everything!

Our friends did such a beautiful job! Everything was themed around children’s books – the food, the decor, the activities… it was so amazing!

And it was all decorated in my favorite colors – yellow and gray! They know me all too well!

They set up a display of books for guests to choose from to buy for our daughter. And they had special stickers made to be placed in the book so our daughter will know who gave it to her. Isn’t that the sweetest?!

We even got a story time! 😉

I just loved every detail of this shower! It was so thoughtful and fun. And I especially loved the strawberry cupcakes, I had 2… ok 3!

We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends. We couldn’t ask for better friends. I’m so grateful that we have them, especially for this new adventure of becoming parents! And I’m even more thankful that our daughter will have these wonderful role models in her life.

Sneak Peek of the Nursery

We are now less than one month away from D-Day! I can’t believe how fast these past few months have gone. And now here we are, a month away, still trying to get the nursery pulled together and getting baby essentials! Eek!

I lay awake at night going over all the things that need to get done before baby Maples arrives… I even dream about it. Needless to say, sleep has been more exhausting then restful as of late.

After weeks of painting furniture, we finally finished! Yay! I am so happy that project is complete. It took so much longer than anticipated. And now we are doing the fun things, like decorating, putting up the crib and going through the mountain of baby clothes. This girl is already like her mama when it comes to clothes!

The little block has one of my favorite sayings, ” Though she be but little, she is fierce.” And I love hanging beautiful baby clothes up in the nursery for decoration. These two are my favorites, for right now. 🙂

IMG_4376

And I am so in love with the crib bedding that my parents got for us! The amazing quilt was handmade by my aunt Debbie (no sewing machine)! Isn’t it beautiful?!

We still have a lot to do! We still need to hang up the decorations, put up some shelving for books and organize everything! I think we will get it all done before she gets here!

My main concern now is making sure we have all the essentials, Baby Maples still needs a few things. Any suggestions on baby basics?

Happy Friday!

35 Weeks

Baby Maples is the size of a coconut!

How far along? 35 weeks – just one more month to go! (say what?!)
Maternity clothes? yes, but mostly my maxi and shift dresses
Stretch marks? not yet
Sleep: sleeping has been ok – still have insomnia and have to get up a lot
Best moment this week: taking a spontaneous trip to the lake with some friends – floating in the cool water and enjoying the warm sun was heavenly!
Miss anything? breathing, moving around normally and enjoying a nice cold beer by the lake on a hot summer day
Movement: I am pretty sure Baby Girl is jazzercising – she moves constantly. I guess she is ready to come out!
Food cravings: all things fruit, veggies, fish and ice cream
Food aversions: not food aversions, just everything I eat gives me bad acid reflux and heartburn – but Zantac has really helped. There have been times when my acid reflux has been so bad that it has made me throw up – not pleasant at all
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: no
Symptoms: Fatigue, swollen feet and ankles, trouble taking a deep breath and the worst charlie horses of all time – My first really bad one was in the middle of the night which caused me to fall out of bed trying to fix it. Randy was in full on panic mode – oops! But thanks to my wonderful husband he helped massage it out.
Belly Button in or out? still half in and half out
Wedding rings on or off? on but they do feel tighter
Mood: happy, anxious and I now cry easier anytime we talk about meeting Baby Girl for the first time or pray over her
Looking forward to: I can’t wait to meet Baby Girl! She is already so loved!

Maternity Photos

We finally have some maternity pictures of both Randy and I! Yay! With Randy’s crazy work/travel schedule, I was afraid we would never get these done. But luckily, we had some time this past weekend.

These pictures were taken by my most favorite photographer, my wonderful husband! We also had some help from my beautiful mother and sister-in-law. It can be difficult to take pictures together without at least one other person helping us out with lighting and positions. So thank you to all involve, I know that I will treasure these photos forever! 🙂

Baby Maples is the size of a honeydew melon and weighs 4.5 pounds!

How far along? 33
Maternity clothes? yes, but mostly my maxi and shift dresses
Stretch marks? not yet
Sleep: sleeping has been ok – third trimester insomnia has started. I usually toss and turn all night and then wake up around 4 or 5 am – it’s lovely…
Best moment this week: It has been awhile since my last post, so a lot of great things have happened: we got our nursery glider and it is seriously the most comfortable chair in the house. Randy and I take turns sitting in it every night! We went to our first baby shower, I discovered that my snoogle can be formed into a donut which I can put my belly into (glorious!) and we celebrated July 4th with friends
Miss anything? my brain, refreshing summer cocktails and doing anything without feeling completely exhausted
Movement: Baby Girl is still moving all the time
Food cravings: strawberries, raspberries, banana pudding ice-cream from Publix (seriously, it’s amazing!)
Food aversions: not food aversions, just everything I eat gives me bad acid reflux and heartburn – but Zantac has really helped, thank you for the suggestion!
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: no
Symptoms: Pregnant brain, fatigue, acid reflux
Belly Button in or out? still half in and half out
Wedding rings on or off? on but they do feel tighter – not sure if it is due to the summer heat or the pregnancy
Mood: happy but so very tired
Looking forward to: Baby Girl’s arrival – it is all I can think about! 🙂

We had our first baby shower two weekends ago, given to us by Randy’s parents. It was a wonderful shower and we loved every minute of it. 🙂

The cake was definitely a hit! It had to be the cutest and most perfect cake ever!

July 4th was spent with our dearest friends. We cooked out, ate strawberries and cookies and enjoyed the fireworks together.

I hope everyone had a magical July 4th weekend! Now that July 4th is over, fall is on the brain! Who’s with me?! Bring on the pumpkin! 😉
