Hello Fall + Cleo Madison Review

Happy October! I am so excited that fall has finally arrived! With the arrival of cooler weather, I have been pulling out my fall wardrobe and I couldn’t be happier! And speaking of clothes, I would like to introduce to you all a clothing company that I just adore. They are called Cleo Madison and they specialize in modest, fashionable clothing. Just my kind store! They offer a variety of modest, stylish items – from t-shirts to dresses. I love how everything is super soft and conservative (without looking like a grandma!). You can definitely find the most perfect “mom-uniform” here. 😉

Today, I will be reviewing the Camille Striped Tee. I love navy and stripes because it is something you can wear in the summer or in the fall. The fit of this shirt is amazing! It is loose without it looking like a bag and I love how the sides cut up a bit higher. For a fall look, I paired the shirt with a navy utility vest that is my favorite fall staple. And of course, my favorite combo of white jeans and booties.

If you are looking for effortless, stylish, comfy looks this fall – check out Cleo Madison. Join their newsletter and get 10% your first order along with free US shipping! Happy shopping ya’ll!

Fashion for Families

I am excited to share a new company who I just love – Kin & Kith. They are “a lifestyle brand focused on bringing family style to the forefront of the clothing industry.” They make coordinating/matching outfits for the whole family. How perfect is that for me? 😉 I just received our dresses and I love them! They are made from high quality fabric and they offer great versatile styles and colors.

For my dress, I picked the grey and white pinstripe. There are so many ways to wear this dress, which I hope to share with you all later. But I thought the red went so well with the gray and it is a perfect outfit for all the upcoming holiday festivities. My red cardigan is from TJMaxx, similar here and here. My red shoes are from ModCloth and they are of course, Seychelles brand (similar). I bought my necklace from BenevolentJewels.com years ago, but they don’t seem to be in business anymore. There are so many options out there and one of my favorite places to get statement pieces is from BaubleBar.com.

Ada’s coordinating dress is black with pinstripe pockets. This dress is so cute on her! I love the style and the tiny pockets are so adorable. And do you know how hard it is to find simple black clothes for little girls? I love all the pinks and purples for little girls, but come on. Every girl needs a little black dress in her closet! Her gray tights and red glitter shoes are both from Gap.com. Her metallic gray bow is from SmallPeanutsShop.

And my favorite picture from the shoot. Look at how well she is standing up now! I am so proud! It is a big accomplishment for her. Hopefully this means she will be walking soon, but I think it is going to be little while longer still.

These coordinating dresses will be available for purchase on November 25th. And not only do they offer dresses for mama and minis but they also offer dress shirts for dads and little boys. The dress shirts for the little boys are the cutest ever! And I am really excited about the new color they will be offering on the 25th, cobalt blue! Isn’t it gorgeous?! The gray pinstripe and black will be available as well.

For all my readers out there, use code, “MAPLETREE,” to get 10% off your purchase! I would act quickly because they sell out of select colors and sizes fast. I’m betting that beautiful cobalt will be the first to sell out. You bet I’ll be first in line to get that one!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend filled with family, friends, and holiday fun!

Cozy Favorites

The cold mountain weather has arrived making it so all I want to do is snuggle up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa (with extra marshmallows, of course!). This is my favorite part of winter. I look forward to the cold days just so we can use our fireplace. Ada is fascinated by the fireplace and we have been teaching her that is hot. So now every time she sees it she holds her little hand out and says, “ah-it.” It is pretty darn cute!

With this cold weather, I have been living in cozy, comfy clothes. So I gathered up my favorites for both mamas and minis.

One: The gray sweatshirt has been my go to this week. It has everything I want in a sweatshirt – thumb holes, no hoodie, soft, and warm.

Two: I am in love with this scarf! I love the pattern and colors. It is on my wish list for Christmas this year.

Three: I wear a big, warm cardigan all the time when it is cold. It is what I constantly grab on my way out to run errands. Makes me feel a little bit more put together, even though I am not!

Four: Hats are definitely my thing and always have been. But now they are necessary, since I don’t always have the time to wash my hair every day! 😉 And pom pom beanies are so cute for both mamas and minis!

Five: This gray magical shirt for Ada, is seriously the softest thing I have ever touched. I wished it came in my size, too!

Six: Are these not the cutest little boots you have ever seen?! This is going on my wish list for Ada for Christmas; because every girl needs a cute pair of boots!

Seven: Another cardigan from Old Navy that is just so perfect!

And look! I was able to capture Ada’s sweet little smile! It is so hard to get a photo of her smiling. She is either looking away or staring into your soul. I love this shy, sweet girl of mine!

I hope you are staying warm and happy Friday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Blue Romper

It has been crazy hot here the last few days! Being a mountain girl, I do not handle hot, sticky, humid heat, well at all! I get cranky, short tempered, and my hair poofs out like a poodle. I believe Ada handles heat the same way, too. She is very hot natured and sweats easily, so we have been hiding inside these past few days. Our style here lately has been anything that is comfortable and cool – so rompers it is!

I know, I know! I love rompers! What can I say? They are easy, stylish, and fun! This romper I found at Target and I wear it a lot. It is light, comfortable, and it has all my favorite colors, mustard and navy. Oh, and it has pockets, cause you know, pockets! My shoes are another favorite from Seychelles. They are very comfortable and I love that I can wear them now and into fall.

You can tell Ada is thrilled to be outside for these photos. The only good thing about this heat and Ada sweating, are those curls! Are they not the sweetest?! I found her romper at Sam’s Club, of all places. It is from Carter’s and I think I paid $5 for it. It has been a go-to outfit for Ada this summer. I don’t know about you, but every time I see this romper I think fiesta! 🙂

And here is a terrible photo, but I couldn’t resist sharing because of Ada’s face. Haha! I love this silly girl of mine.

I hope you are all staying cool this week! Here’s to praying that fall will come soon! Happy Monday!

Our July 4th

I have always enjoyed the 4th of July – sunshine, parades, cookouts, fireworks, and all red, white and blue! And I was even more excited to share this holiday with my daughter! We had a low key weekend at home, mostly because I am pretty sure fireworks and parades would absolutely terrify Ada right now! But next year, I am sure that we will watch fireworks. I can’t wait to see her first reaction to them! Although, I am sure she will be terrified of fireworks then, too! 😉

I am glad that we were able to get a July 4th family photo – thanks to a newly required selfie stick. I think they are terribly hilarious, but they sure do make family photos a lot easier!

We even sported our red, white, and blue for church. I love her little pointed toes in this photo.

For the 4th, we had our friends over for a cookout, complete with red, white, and blue sangria! It was the first time I have ever made sangria and it was pretty darn delicious! You can find the recipe I used here. We had a great time, drinking sangria and watching our little babies play together.

Ada’s first July 4th outfit was so cute! When I saw this onesie, I couldn’t resist. I knew it would make the perfect first July 4th outfit for Ada!

She is definitely our little firecracker!

It is getting a little bit harder to take good picture of her any more, she is such a little wiggle worm!

I hope you had a wonderful 4th filled with fun, friends, and family! Now that July 4th is over, it is officially fall in my mind. Bring on the cooler weather and everything pumpkin!

Mama & Mini Style: Valentine’s Day

It should come as no surprise that one of my favorite things to do with Ada is to dress her in coordinating outfits with me. So when ever there is an occasion to match, I jump on it!

Valentine’s Day offers the most adorable outfit for babies – all the cute little hearts and the cheery colors – even mom can join in on the fun!

When Gap came out with all their Valentine’s Day outfits, I knew that I had to find something to match! Luckily, Modcloth had the perfect cardigan for me! 🙂

Fashion Friday: Cape

I know it has been a while, but life has been so crazy busy here lately. It has been difficult to blog these past couple of weeks.

Today, I wanted to share this cape! The cape has really made a come back here lately and I am loving all the different styles. Something about capes reminds me of times past, I think they are dramatic (in a good way) and elegant.

I adore this cape because of how it is shaped. It isn’t just a piece of shapeless, draping fabric; which I love those too; but I love that this one is structured. The neutral color makes it easy to wear with just about anything. It is perfect for heading to football games, fall festivals and all of those holiday shopping trips!

This necklace and earring set is one of my favorites. I got it from a local jeweler whom I can only find during local festivals. She hunts down vintage and rare buttons and makes them into jewlery. I love how danity they are and that I am wearing a small piece of history. 🙂 There is a website called, Grandmother’s Buttons, that make similar pieces.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, Happy Friday!

10 Year High School Reunion + Fashion Talk

Nothing says like you are getting old like getting the invitation to your 10 year high school reunion. Has it really been 10 years? Already? I would like to say that it felt like yesterday, but looking back to my high school self, I realized how much I had changed over the years. I am almost a completely different person now then I was 10 years ago. My core values haven’t changed, but my perspective, my way of thinking and the way I see the world now… all that is different.

The one memory that sticks out the most to me at 18 was a conversation I had with my mother. I can’t exactly remember what we were talking about – something along the lines of life decisions – and my mom said something that surprised me. She said, “You will change the most between the ages of 18 and 25.” I remember thinking, no I won’t. I will still be me, I will still want the same things and my plans will never change. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It is funny to look back at the years and see yourself change. But I like the way I have changed. I haven’t accomplish everything I thought I would, but the life I have now is better than I could had ever dreamed. 🙂

Before heading to the reunion, we did a quick photo shoot of just the two of us.

And yes, I planned our outfits to match because I am cheesy like that! We got Randy’s shirt last year from Banana Republic. It is both of our favorites! 🙂 And it looks so good on him!

I got this dress online at Ruche. I love, love, love the colors! Of course, you all know how much I love mustard. The shoes were my birthday present this year from Modcloth, which are no longer available. But they have tons of different options!

I found the purse at an antique store in Hendersonville. I bought it for $12!

My favorite picture from the whole night! Thank you Randy!

And for my jewelry… the necklace is an antique and my gold bracelet was my high school graduation present from my parents. Seemed only fitting to wear it to my reunion. 🙂

Our 10 year reunion was at a new brewery in Boone, the Appalachian Mountain Brewery. Coming from the beer capital of America, I was pretty impressed with their beers. Good job Boone! For dinner, they had a local food truck called From Farm to Flame. They made wood-fire pizzas and they were out of this world amazing! I will be on the hunt for this truck every time I go to Boone now.

The night was a little awkward at first. It is hard to start up conversations with people who you haven’t seen in 10 years. But an hour into the night (after everyone had some drinks) it got easier.

It was so nice catching up with old friends.

Especially with these two. We have all been friends since we were 4 years old!

First thought regarding reunions – Facebook can make it hard to have these, “I haven’t seen you in 10 years. How are you doing?” conversations. Mostly because you already know where they are and what they are doing. But seeing people in the flesh, being able to hug them and talk to them – it is so much better than seeing pictures on Facebook.

At the end of the day, I have to conclude that our parents did a pretty awesome job with all of us. We are lawyers, doctors, judges, engineers and small business owners and living all over the country – not bad for a tiny town in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Just goes to show you it is not how you start, but how you finish.

Overall, I am glad that I went to my reunion. I had a great time catching up with old friends and making new connections with those who I didn’t know as well in high school. Until next time WHS… see you in 10 years!

August Love List

Fall is right around the corner and I couldn’t be happier! But it is not quite here yet. 🙁 Until then, here is a list of transitional items I love!

1. This perfume from Caudalie smells amazing. My good friend discovered it while she was visiting Paris and I am so glad she shared it with me. It is the perfect balance of sweet and musk. And it helps that Randy absolutely loves it too! 🙂

2. This Crock Pot Beef and Sweet Corn Queso Dip looks delicious! Everything I have made from Iowa Girl Eats has been out of this world good. (If you don’t follow her, I suggest that you do!) I can’t wait to give this one a try this weekend!

3. I bought this gray sweater from Loft and it is the perfect transitional sweater. It is warm enough for those chilly mornings and light enough to keep me comfortable in the afternoons. Plus, the eyelet detail on the sleeve is adorable!

4. As you all know, I have an obsession with Hello Apparel. I just love their stuff! I saw this on their Instagram and I am super excited! It isn’t available until September, but I will be the first in line to buy this one when it becomes available. It will be great for football season, even though I am not a football fan… or any sport for that matter. I feel like Brian Regan when it comes to sports, “Go my favorite sports team! Make a goal, unit, basket!” Anyways, I digress…

5. And last but not least, this utility jacket from Sierra Designs. I bought this jacket in gray (of course, my favorite color!) from the online REI outlet store . I have wanted a utility jacket for a while now, but they mostly come in olive. I love the color olive, it just doesn’t love me. So when I saw this jacket in gray, I just had to have it! 😉 It is a great weight for this transitional weather and water resistant (a plus in my book, since we live in a rain forest!). It is going to be my new go-to jacket for travel. It will be getting it’s first test at the end of the month (more info on that later!).

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and that you are having a good start to your week. Just 3 more days till the weekend!

Life Lately

This summer has been hectic for us. Great, but busy. My class for work ended a few weeks ago (yay!) but I am taking another one that starts next week (boo!). So I have been squeezing in fun activities before I get sucked into school work again.

I had a girl’s night out a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun! We went to Wine and Design. You bring your own wine and they provide everything else; canvas, paint, brushes and an instructor. You sip wine and laugh with your girlfriends while you attempt to paint the assigned painting of the night. It is a lot of fun! The night we went was an abstract painting night, which is good because I am sure it is a lot more forgiving! 😉

My husband, Randy, is the sweetest guy I know. When I came home, he bragged about how awesome my painting was and how we needed to hang it up. God bless him! 😉 Note: I will not be hanging this painting up in my home! It is a little too Dr. Seuss for me! 😉  It was just a fun girl’s night out! I would love to do it again sometime.

Last weekend was filled with volunteer work. We helped with the United Way Golf Tournament all day on Saturday. On Sunday, we went to a volunteer appreciation dinner for Blue Ridge Humane Society (for those of you who don’t know, I am a board member for this group). It was held at a historic building in Hendersonville called, The Cedars. It was a beautiful house! But I adore everything vintage. The trees around the house are huge and beautiful. And inside it is filled with antique furniture and decor. I wore my vintage inspired dress and shoes from modcloth.com. I love this outfit!

Also last weekend, Randy and I had a much needed date night. We aim to have a date night out, at least, once a month. But it had been probably 2 months since the last date night out! It was so nice to go out for a romantic meal with my husband. It was lovely!
