Mama + Mini Monday: Thanksgiving Style

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week! I blinked and my favorite time of year is almost over! I am looking forward to all the delicious recipes that I want to try this year; most of them involving pumpkin. But what I am looking forward to the most, is spending some quality time with my family.

This week I have been in planning mode – deciding on menus, fun themed crafts for Ada, and of course, picking out the perfect outfits for all of our family pictures. At least, I am hoping we can get some family photos! Little Ada is getting harder and harder to take pictures of since all she wants to do is run. 🙂 Any advice on taking pictures with a toddler is most welcomed!

Ada has definitely gotten some Zoolander looks going on here!

I know that the holiday rush is upon us, but I hope that everyone will take a moment to stop and reflect. Reflect on all of our many blessings and on all the many small things that make us happy. And I hope you take a moment to dance in the leaves. Happy Monday ya’ll!

Friday Fall Favorites

My favorite time year is here and I have been soaking in all that fall has to offer. The past few days have been delightfully cold so I have been enjoying cozy sweaters and hot coffee. Now usually I wear pjs all day but with the holidays approaching, I figure I better find something else to wear, you know like real clothes. But I will still wear all of my hats so I at least don’t have to worry about my hair. 😉

I came across this ribbon on Instagram and immediately felt like a winner because not only did I get myself out of pjs today, but I put Ada in something other than pjs as well! Go, me!

Anyways, without further ado, here are some of my favorites!

  1. Plaid Poncho: I love snuggling up in a poncho. I am so glad that these are still in style. I will be so sad the day that they are no longer in. This poncho can carry you into Christmas as well;  paired with red accessories. 😉
  2. Mama’s Floral Dress: This dress has been difficult to find in stock. This past week, I was able to snag one and I am so excited! I bought it when they had a 25% off and I had some store credit so yay! I plan on wearing this one for Thanksgiving to match my little (of course).
  3. Little’s Pullover: June&January has done it again with their holiday line. I can’t make up my mind on what to get Ada. But I am thinking the pullover will be the one thing I will grab for her; over and over again.
  4. Mama’s Beanie: Gigi Pip makes the best hats and their beanies certainly do not disappoint. I have been wearing this mustard beanie pretty much nonstop this fall. And I have been eyeing this one ,in blush, for a few days now… my Christmas wish list just keeps on growing! 😉
  5. Little’s Beanie: I bought Ada a beanie earlier this fall, but it doesn’t want to stay on her head. So I am thinking one like this will fit better.
  6. Little’s Floral Dress: I can’t express enough how much I love this dress! The colors are just perfect! It just screams fall! Matching autumn florals for the win.
  7. Campfire Mug: I have had this mug for a few years now and it is my favorite. It is big enough to hold all my marshmallows for hot chocolate or my much needed coffee in the mornings.
  8. Fall Garland: Pearl&Jane makes the cutest garlands. I love how she paired pink, mustard, and blue together for this one. Definitely fits all the colors in my home. Her Christmas garlands are so adorable and I am struggling not to buy them all!

I hope everyone has had a great week and Happy Friday ya’ll!

Mother’s Day Photoshoot

I can’t believe that I am getting ready to celebrate my second Mother’s Day. First, I still sometimes struggle with the idea that I am a mom and second, I can’t believe that my baby is almost two! The years have flown by, especially this year! So for Mother’s Day this year, I wanted a photoshoot with Ada. I know we do a lot of these, but I have been super emotional with Ada’s second birthday approaching. I just can’t believe that Ada will be two in just few short months! Where did my sweet, chubby baby go?! But I am grateful that I have had many photo sessions with Ada. I love looking back on them and remembering what Ada was like at that time.

Special thanks to my sweet, patient husband for taking the time to take these photos. We are the luckiest girls in the world!

Mama + Mini Monday: April Showers

With all these April showers we should be getting tons of May flowers, am I right?! After days of rain, Ada and I could only stay inside for so long. So I put on my rain boots, grabbed my umbrella, and we took a stroll downtown. It was a wonderful change of scenery that Ada and I both needed.

Ada was fascinated by this clock that chimes every 15 minutes. She would keep pointing at it and say, “Tick, tock! Tick, tock!” Downtown is one of my favorite places to walk and window shop. I love all the old buildings and Ada likes to stop and smell the flowers. Not to mention, Kilwin’s ice-cream is simply the best!

My navy striped dress came from TJMaxx two years ago (similar, similar). I wore it a lot throughout my pregnancy. It is super soft and stretchy; hence why I worn it all the time while pregnant. My blush cardigan is a spring time favorite. You always need a sweater/jacket in the mountains. My floral rain boots are from Joules. They have so many adorable boots! I chose the shorter ones because I am so short! Regular rain boots hit me at my knees, which makes things like walking difficult. Joules also make some adorable matching rain boots for Ada, but since she is just learning to walk, I thought it would be better to wait till next year for rain boots.

Ada’s navy striped shirt is from Gap (similar) and her gray cardigan is from Old Navy. And her pink gingham bow is from Ellia May Designs.

After our fun in the rain, we ended our day with a popsicle pretending it was sunny outside. Next time she gets a popsicle, she can eat it outside, because dang that was messy! But totally worth it; just look at that face! 🙂

Well, I hope you are all staying dry out there! Let’s hope for some sunshine soon! Happy May 1st ya’ll!

Mama + Mini: Snow Day

It is sometimes difficult to live in the mountains around this time of year. With spring around the corner, you are teased with adorable summer dresses, sandals, and a few warm days. Then the day after you have beautiful 70 degree weather, you get snow. That is why I don’t pack away my winter things until April; maybe later. 😉 But Ada loved the little snow day we had this past weekend and her enthusiasm was contagious. She was so excited to see the all the snowflakes dancing around her. She just kept running around say, “Snow, snow!” It was pretty much the best thing ever!

I got my sweater during the winter sale at Nordstrom a few weeks ago and have been pulling it out every time the temperature drops. It is the perfect oversized sweater and is so soft and warm! And the best thing – it is 100% cotton and not acrylic. (I have a rather large dislike to acrylic sweaters.)

Ada’s dress is from Old Navy and it is a favorite of mine. I love all the colors and the peachy pink matches her bow so well! Her gray sweater cardigan is from Old Navy, too.

After walking around outside, we came inside to enjoy some hot chocolate and watch the snow fall. Just look at those adorable little tippy toes!

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Stay warm or if you are out of the mountains, enjoy the spring weather! 😉

Mama + Mini Monday: Gray & Pink

There is always something magical about snow days. Snow always brings such a beautiful peace. I love watching the snow fall, snuggled up to the fire while reading a good book. But now that we have a little one, all we want to do is enjoy the snow with Ada all day! So our days here lately have been filled with bundling Ada up, playing outside until our noses are red & running, then running back inside to warm up, peel off all of our wet layers to be dried in the dryer, make some snow cream, and then repeat. It is a lot of work, but it is totally worth it to watch Ada light up every time we go outside.

Taking our photos out in the snow, was so fun and probably my favorite pictures of Ada and I, so far! Tesla even join in on the fun!

Ada’s dress is from June&January. I love their dresses and Ada has a few in different colors. The white cardigan is from Target and the detail around the bottom is so sweet. Her rose gold shoes are from Livie&Luca – they have worked very well for her since she is starting to take steps. They are soft and bend easily. They also fit her feet better than StrideRite shoes. She has tiny, narrow feet and these shoes fit so much better.

It was all I could do to keep her from sitting in the snow. But she did manage to touch the snow – which she did not like. Hence, the face below.

Snuggling with this girl is my favorite. 🙂

My dress is my gray pinstripe dress from Kin&Kith. This dress is so versatile and I love how comfortable it is. My cream sweater is from Loft and this is my go to cardigan during the fall and winter months. It is so very warm (similiar)! My rain boots are from Joules and I love the height of them. Being a bit on the short side, these shorter rain boots work so much better for me. Taller rain boots hit right at my knees and it is hard for me to maneuver in them. My hat and scarf were Christmas gifts this year and I love the metallic rose gold thread.

I hope you are enjoying the snow and staying warm! Happy Monday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Emerald Green

Christmas is just 6 days away!! I am so excited for Christmas morning. I can not wait to see how Ada reacts to all the chaos of opening presents, eating cinnamon rolls, and being past around the family for some love! It is going to be so much fun!

Today, I am sharing another simple holiday outfit. I feel that the color green gets overlooked at Christmas time. Don’t get me wrong, I love red. And red pretty much looks good on everyone, but a beautiful emerald green is hard to beat. Today I paired my green top with jeans. It is hard for me to wear dresses or skirts right now, because I am mostly on the floor playing with Ada. I spend a lot of my days sitting on the floor while she sits on my lap or me getting up and down to help her walk around the house. So pants are necessary anymore. 😉 This green blouse is one of my favorites and I have it in cranberry red as well. It is comfortable, flowy, and flattering – what’s not to love? I bought them both at TJMaxx and have been hunting for more. There are a few options on PoshMark and eBay – just look up Violet and Claire blouses.

Ada’s shirt is from Kidizen – I cannot describe how much I love this app. I have found so many beautiful clothes for Ada already! I love the green flower with a gold button center. Such cute detail!

My little scooter is always on the move. She can crawl and stand while holding on to something, but her preferred method of transportation is still scooting on her booty. 🙂

This face though! How can anyone say no to this face? We certainly can’t! 😉

And my favorite gold velvet bow from Small Peanuts Shop is on repeat here lately.

She gets her silly faces from her mama. I’ll show you what I mean as soon as I can get a hold of my baby pictures.

My jewelry is another TJMaxx find. They are very unique pieces, I have yet to find anything else like it. The necklace and bracelet are even prettier in person. If anyone knows where I can find more jewelry in this style, please let me know! A sapphire blue would be gorgeous, right?!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas week!

Mama + Mini Monday: Black & White

“The weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful…” This pretty much sums up our days here at the Maples’ house. It has been very cold and rainy for days now – the kind of weather that you really don’t want to take a toddler into. We have spent a lot of time snuggling up by the fire in our pjs. But we have gotten out and enjoyed some Christmas festivities. So today I am sharing a casual holiday outfit to wear when it is too cold to wear a dress! 😉

As I have said before, buffalo check is one of my favorite prints for Christmas. And the black and white buffalo check is perfect to pair with holiday colors. You can pair it with red, emerald green, metallic silver or gold. Today, we paired it with gold.

My shirt is very warm and soft – just perfect for these cold days (similar). My scarf is a favorite of mine. It is really soft, like a silky material and the color is the prettiest mustard/gold color. I finally found some black jeans. I have been on the hunt for a little while for black jeans and got them during the Black Friday sale at Loft. My black pom pom beanie is from TJMaxx, but you can find these anywhere. I have been wearing this hat on repeat because it is so warm and because, who has the energy to fix their hair during this crazy holiday season?! 😉

I purchased Ada’s shirt through Kidizen. Have you heard of this app, yet? A friend introduced me and I love it. It is a place to easily sell all of your baby’s clothes. And they have beautiful, practically new clothes for a great price. This shirt is from Gap (similar) and it was brand new with tags for $8! I love the details in this shirt – it has ruffles around the buttons and there is a metallic gold stripe woven in with the plaid – perfect for Christmas! I have started to sell some of Ada’s clothes, for anyone interested, go check us out (JamaMaples)! Ada’s bow is my new favorite. Small Peanuts Shop have the prettiest velvet bows you have ever seen. I really struggled to pick out a color, but you all knew that I had to get the gold one, right? 😉

As we were taking these pictures, the lights came one. Ada was so excited when they turned on. This girl loves her some Christmas lights! 🙂 #makesmyhearthappy

And some of my favorites. I love all the faces she makes. She is so sweet….

Well, most of the time! 😉

I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying all the fun that Christmas brings! Happy Monday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Owl Sweaters

Like all children, Ada loves animals and her favorite toys are all her stuffed animals. And like most, her favorites are dogs, cats, and bunnies. But then she has a few that she loves that are a little out of the ordinary. And those animals are sheep, goats, and owls. She lights up the most when she sees these three animals and always loudly says the animal noise when she sees them. So when I came across this owl sweatshirt for her at OldNavy, I just knew I had to get it for her.

She loves this sweatshirt! Whenever she wears it she scoots around the house saying, “Who! Who!”; over and over again! Not to mention it is very soft and warm. Perfect for these cold, rainy days; like we had this weekend. And Ada loves when I wear my owl sweater, too.

She points at my sweater and says, “Who! Who!” and is fascinated with the beaded eyes. As you can tell, this is her favorite game. She enjoys finding animals everywhere and saying what they say. She loves going to Target because of the big dog that they have all over the store. She just sits in the buggy, points at every dog she sees, and barks.

My owl sweater is from WallisFashion. I bought this sweater several years ago when owls were big. It is hard to find an owl sweater now. But J.Crew, Anthropologie, and ModCloth have been known to have some. So this poses a question – are owls sweaters out of style now? Oh well if they are, I like mine and Ada’s too much to care if it is or not! 😉 My jeggings are from No Nonsense and are perfect for wearing with boots. Not to mention, they feel like you are wearing yoga pants!

Please excuse my very tired eyes, I haven’t slept well in about a week and I am feeling it! Ada has been working on so many teeth here lately and has been crazy fussy. I mean, scream at the top of her lungs just out of the blue, fussy! Her temper tantrums are pretty hard core, too. Last night, she got mad at me when I took her out of her bubble bath, for bed time, and she clawed my face and neck. Needless to say, it has been a rough week in our house. And to finish up our weekend, we stayed up late wrapping Christmas presents! I love making Christmas special for Ada, but dang I am tired! #momlife

But you can’t tell in this picture that Ada has been screaming and just down right mean this week. She looks like a perfect little angel here.

She makes the funniest faces! And as you can tell, she did not want to hold still. For a baby that doesn’t walk, she sure can get around. But good news on the moving – Ada crawled for the first time this weekend! It was slow going and she still scooted on her knees rather than crawl. But this is a big deal for us! The fact that she is even putting herself into a crawling position and trying to move that way is huge! So way to go Ada!

I do love this crazy, sweet little girl. Even when she is a bit unpleasant, I know that she doesn’t mean to be. And most of the time, Ada is a loving, sweet, snuggly baby. I hope that she gets to feeling more herself soon. We all need some sleep around here! Happy Monday ya’ll!

Mama + Mini Monday: Cobalt Blue

Happy Cyber Monday ya’ll! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, turkey, and pie! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family, but it is always nice to come back home. Now we can decorate the house for Christmas and take advantage of all the Cyber Monday savings to finish up our Christmas shopping!

Today, we are wearing another favorite color of mine – cobalt blue. I think this color is great for the holidays and winter time.

I have been hunting for a cobalt blue shirt like this for about a year now and was so excited to find it at TJMaxx about a month ago. You can find this blouse here. I also like wearing this shirt with my J.Crew herringbone vest. It is so easy to dress this shirt up or down and this style looks so good on everyone.

My jeans are from Loft. Loft’s jeans fit me the best. Pretty much all my jeans come from there. 🙂 My shoes are another TJMaxx find. I love t-strap shoes! I love the vintage look and I feel like they slenderize my ankles and feet. They are Franco Sartos and even though they do not look comfy, they really are comfortable. I can wear them for hours without them hurting my feet (similar). YAY!

I was so excited to find Ada’s sweater at OldNavy the other day. I snagged it during the Black Friday sale this past weekend and I am considering getting the other colors. The sweater is soft and the tunic fit is so cute on a little one. It even has dolman style sleeves! How cute! Her leggings are from Gap and her gold Mary Janes are from Amazon. Her metallic gold bow is from SmallPeanutsShop.

She looks so cute standing up! She is getting better and better at standing. She still can’t quite pull herself up into standing position, but she can stand up against a table unassisted. I do worry about her not standing or walking yet. I know she will in her own time, but it still worries me. What if she doesn’t really walk till she is two? Has anyone else heard of or seen a little one take so long to walk?

Ada has shown a big interest in shoes right now; that’s my girl! She loves putting them on and taking them off. She even likes to go into my closet and play with my shoes. She usually comes back with one or two for me to put on for her. She is definitely my daughter! 😉 So there will probably be a pair or two under the tree for her this year.

There are some great sales going on today: Old Navy & Gap are having 50%; Loft is having 50% off + free shipping; Anthro is having 20% off + extra 30% off sale items. Amazon is having some good deals today – one being the FitBit Charge 2 and a Kitchen Aid Mixer. And don’t forget J.Crew – 40% + free shipping!

Have fun shopping today!
