11 Month Favorites

It is hard to imagine that we are now less than one month away from Ada’s first birthday. It is amazing how fast time has flown by. So before we get to her first birthday, here are our 11 month favorites!

11 Month Favorites

  1. Simba Travel Containers – I have been looking for travel food containers for a while. I thought about getting the Zoli travel containers, but at $20 it was a little pricey. The Simba is only $9 and it is large enough to fit bigger snacks. And I love that it can hold formula, too. The formula dispenser I had before, I had to beat the formula out of it! Now it is smooth sailing when it comes to making a bottle.
  2. Oxo Bib – I love the idea of a silicone bib, with the food catcher at the bottom. But Ada has always struggled getting her little arms around it and grabbing her food. This bib has a soft top so it is easier for her to move around it and we can catch all her food. Win, win!
  3. Joovy Walker – I know that research says that a walker delays walking, but my daughter is already delayed, so we got her one on Craigslist. I love this walker because there is a nice, big, blank tray instead of a tray with all kinds of toys in her face. She loves moving around while looking at her books and it is nice to leave her sippy cup and snacks on the tray, too. She hasn’t figured out how to move forwards yet, but she can move backwards. And any kind of workout for her legs, I think, is a good thing at this point.
  4. Tote – We have officially outgrown our diaper bag. Carrying bottles, formula, snacks, bibs, utensils, toys, blankets, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, etc – the diaper bag was no longer big enough. I found this large tote at Target and it has worked very well for us. I use Sugar Snap Files, to help keep everything organize.
  5. Sleeper – I found some awesome sleepers at Primary.com. I love them because they button all the way down on both sides (couldn’t find an accurate pic) and they are not snug fit. Most larger sleepers are snug fit, which are not comfortable for Ada’s cute, chubby thighs. And they are super soft, so these sleepers are perfect!
  6. Book – This is Ada’s favorite book right now. She loves the flaps and the different sounds. Her favorite sound is the sheep, she plays that one over and over and imitates it. It is adorable!

I hope you ya’ll have a wonderful weekend! I am off to plan Ada’s first birthday! I am so excited to throw her a party!

7 Month Favorites

Ada is pretty much over all of her “baby” toys right now. I think she is ready for bigger and better. 😉 So I had some fun finding some new toys for her this month and she is loving them! Here are some of our favorites this month:

7 Months

Puppy – Ada is loving stuffed animals right now. She loves snuggling up to them and throwing them around. Jellycat makes mine and Ada’s favorite stuffed animals. They are simply adorable and super soft.

Jump-a-roo – Ada seems to have finally discover that she can bounce in this thing. Before, she would just sit in it, but now she moves around and it is a whole new toy! I am glad that she is moving around in this because otherwise, she doesn’t know what her legs are for. 😉

Cookbook – One of the best cookbooks I have purchased. Worth every penny! I use it everyday to get ideas on blends and different purees for Ada to try. They have so many ideas for blends that taste surprisingly good; like, green beans and pears, avocado and banana, and chicken, sweet potato, and apple. So far, she has liked everything I have made her.

Caterpillar – This is a neat toy. There are 5 individual balls that each have there own colors and noises. They are a little difficult to attach together (at least I think so), but the balls fit Ada’s little hands very well. She loves passing them from one hand to another, banging them together, and of course, throwing them!

Boon Bath Toys – These have been great for Ada, now that she is sitting up in the tub. She loves to chew on them and they fit her hands well. And since there are no holes, I don’t have to worry about mold growing inside the toys! Win win!

Highchair – Best highchair ever! I love that this highchair rolls around and so does Ada. I can put her in the highchair and roll her around the kitchen while I cook. And it is a great place to put toys in front of her to entertain herself. I love that it has adjustable height. I can raise her up so she can see what is going on at the kitchen counter and I can lower her down to our dining room table. Plus, there is no fabric with this chair, which is a huge deal for me! Clean up is so easy!

Dress – The bodysuit dresses have been my favorite! I love putting dresses on Ada, but when you pick her up the dress rides up and gets all bunched up. It is kinda of irritating, for both of us! But with these, there is no ride up and it stays put! Plus, they usually come with cardigans and cardigans on babies are the cutest!

Happy Hump Day ya’ll! Hope you are having a fantastic week!

P.S. This hairstyle… Those big blue eyes … I can’t even…! 🙂

Four & Five Month Favorites

I feel like Ada has grown up so much this past month! She is now teething, eating some solids and is working on sitting up completely on her own now! It is almost like one day she woke up and decided she wanted to eat our food and sit up all by herself.  Where did my little newborn go?! 237b3fd5-7aa8-4a2d-9f06-9a37bca9d8cf

Nuby Bibs – With all this teething, Ada is a drooling machine! She goes through bibs and clothes at a phenomenal rate! That is, until I found these bibs. They truly keep Ada’s clothes dry and Ada enjoys the teether on the bottom too! They are kinda hard to find, but you can find them at Walmart and Target (but not Amazon!).

Bamboo Swaddle Blankets – I know I have mentioned these blankets before, but Ada has shown a huge interest in her blankets here lately. She loves holding onto them, rubbing her face with them and chewing on them. I like the bamboo swaddle the best because they are really thin and super soft. I feel comfortable with her napping with them because they are so thin and breathable. Plus, I just love this turquoise color!

Boogie Wipes – These wipes are nice for my teething Ada. Not only is she drooling a lot, she also has had a stuffy and runny nose. I love the way the fresh scent smells and it is easy on her sensitive nose. I know these will come in handy this winter with all these colds going around!  Note: I tear these wipes in half to make the pack last longer! The wipes are so big anyways, half a wipe is more than enough for a little one’s nose!

Baby Oatmeal – I can’t believe Ada is already eating solids! Just… wow! She has just started on Oatmeal and seems to like it pretty good. I do mix in some fruit into the oatmeal, otherwise it is pretty tasteless! Haha! So far, Ada enjoys banana! I’ll be introducing sweet potatoes soon!

Tummy Time Pillow – As I have mentioned before, Ada really hates tummy time. She screams at the top of her lungs, turns beet red and has tears running down her cheeks. It seriously the worst thing ever! For Christmas, she received this pillow and she actually likes it! She lays on it and plays with the crunchy toys. Maybe because she is a little bit older, but we can now do tummy time thanks to this pillow!

Sophie the Giraffe – I know that this toy is everywhere and on everyone’s registry. I don’t know what it is that babies like about this toy, but Ada really loves her Sophie. She loves chewing on this toy and laughs every time I squeak it! Plus, it is adorable!

Pink Poodle – This is Ada’s absolutely most favorite toy! She just squeals in delight, laughs and kicks and wiggles about every time we get it out to play. I guess she finds the rattling and jittering hilarious! Whenever she is upset, this is the toy that I bring out to make her happy again!

Two and Three Months Favorites

It is amazing to watch your little one grow. One minute you are holding a tiny, snuggly bundle to a interactive, funny baby. I love watching Ada take in her world. Her eyes light up at just about everything, especially when people talk to her. And she is sitting up and getting better at it daily. I have mixed feelings about her getting older – a part of me wants her to stay little forever and the other part of me is excited to see the next stage. But mostly, I wish time would slow so I could enjoy each stage for longer… but I am sure I will not be wishing that by the time potty training comes along!

Aveeno Baby Creamy Wash – Ada has very dry sky and this wash seems to help out a little bit. I also use the Aveeno lotion to help battle this dry skin. Any suggestions on how to cure dry skin on a baby? And Aveeno products smell really good, not like baby powder (which I do not like). I love using this wash because Ada smells amazing for a long time. Ada, on the other hand, can’t stand bath time. I’m hoping that will improve with time.

Burp Cloths – Both Ada and I love these burp cloths. They are expensive, but they seem to be the only ones Ada doesn’t mind for me to use on her all day every day. She has started to drool now, so I am constantly rubbing her face. Not only are they really soft, they are also absorbent for those surprise spit up moments.

Mother’s Milk Tea – This stuff taste like licorice, which I hate, but it has helped with my milk supply. So I just put a good amount of honey in the tea and gulp it down.

Book – Ada enjoys this book very much. I keep it with us all around the house – from tummy time (which she still hates), to sit up/play time and for when I need to lay her down in her pack-n-play for a moment. It unfolds like an accordion so it can lay on the ground for tummy time or lean up against the inside of a crib.

Peacock – This is Ada’s favorite toy right now. Her eyes get huge when I place it in front of her and she starts kicking like crazy. I also keep this toy with us all day; especially in the car. This company really knows what babies like, because I have a cloth book of their’s and Ada loves that as well. I’m thinking about getting her some more toys from this company for Christmas!

I hope this has helped some new moms out. I am, by no means, an expert. But I love reading advice from other mommy bloggers so I hope this has helped you out!

My First Month Must Haves

We have survived the first month of parenthood! Woot! Woot! It has been a whirlwind of emotions and lots of sleep deprived days learning our new baby. But there have been a few things that has made this new lifestyle a bit easier.

Desktop

  1. Mamaroo – The mamaroo is a lifesaver when you need to do things around the house. Ada loves it and is perfectly content to lay in it while I cook dinner or do laundry. The built in speakers are great. We use an old iPhone that is dedicated to play music just for her – Rock-a-bye Baby.
  2. Recycled Glass Tumbler – Breastfeeding makes me super thirsty all the time. I just love this recycled glass tumbler to keep cold drinks with me all day.
  3. Aden and Anais Swaddle Blankets – Everyone registers for these blankets and now I see why. I use them everyday to keep Ada warm or as a car seat cover or as a burp cloth. They are light weight, breathable and come in adorable patterns.
  4. Nursing Top – I live in this nursing top from Gap. It’s super soft and so useful for breastfeeding. I wear it around the house and it is nice enough to wear out of the house as well.
  5. Como Tomo Bottles – You never know if you will need to bottle feed your newborn. I am so glad that I had one of these on hand when she came home. Ada used it when she was two weeks old and had no problem taking it after she had been exclusively breastfed. She can easily go back and forth between breastfeeding and bottle feeding now.
  6. Drying Rack and Brush – I love this drying rack and brush from OXO. I looked into the Boon Grass drying rack, but it is not dishwasher safe. So I came across this one and love it. I have plenty of room for all my bottles and breast pump accessories and it is dishwasher safe! And the brush comes with its own stand to catch all the water that drips off it – no more messy counter tops!
  7. Button-Up Sleepers – Ada lives in these button-up sleepers. I prefer the button-up versus the zippered because the zippered kind exposes her whole body during a diaper change, which no one likes.
  8. Breast Pump – I’m glad I got a breast pump before Ada arrived. I started using mine during her second week home and have used it daily since. And I was able to get the pump through my insurance – so that saved us a lot of money.
  9. Pacifiers – Ada loves, loves, loves her pacifiers. I know people say not to use them if you are breastfeeding, but we haven’t had any trouble with her. We call the pacifiers, “The Susher,” after the movie Home (adorable movie, by the way!). They have been lifesavers for us all!
  10. Lanolin – This cream is great for soothing sore, dry nipples and I use it with my pump as well. I also made a nipple ointment that works wonders when they are cracked and bleeding.

Well, these are some things that have helped make this transition a little bit easier for us. What are some things that have helped you with a newborn?

And of course, a few pictures of my adorable little Ada! 🙂
